Price increase amount confirmed for the Switch 2 in the UK, set to come into effect September 1st

Though we knew all the way back in May that this was coming, the exact numbers remained a mystery for prospective Nintendo gamers in the UK. If you happen to have been living under a rock, let me fill you in. The price of the Switch 2 is set to go up next month. For those of you in the US, Canada, and EU, the exact amount has been known for a few months now, with the US getting the worst deal looking at percentage increase. You can find a reminder of these increases below:
  • United States: $449.99 ➜ $499.99 (11% increase)
  • Canada: CA$629.99 ➜ CA$679.99 (7% increase)
  • Europe: €469.99 ➜ €499.99 (6% increase)
Nintendo have today confirmed the numbers for those of us in the UK, and they're not quite as bad as I was expecting.
  • United Kingdom: £395.99 ➜ £419.99 (6% increase)
The numbers are relatively in line with what was announced for Canada and Europe, showing a 6% increase. As with other regions, these prices are set to come into effect from the 1st of September, giving you a little under two weeks if you're still on the fence about buying before it gets a touch more expensive.

RIP Switch 2
2025-2026
Yeah. A shame. Fastest selling console of all-time and over 25 million have already sold. And now its price has gone up FAR less than the PS5, the Xbox or the Steam Deck. It is absolutely doomed.
Just more braindead Ninty-bashing.
What a #dumbass

the NS2 is looking like its going to be the new PS5: arguably good HW, too expensive, too few games.
It already has more exclusives. The Switch 2 is STILL a bargain.

I was talking about Nintendo games in general, I already said Mario Kart World is not worth it cause online is worse that the previous game.
MKW feels like a disappointment right now, but I'm hoping Nintendo will eventually make it a solid Mario Kart game.

Mario Kart 8 at launch had its problems although I still had a blast, while here the new MK is missing something.

The loudest commenters are often the most mentally incapacitated. Anyone believing this to be a dichotomy of good vs. bad has been watching too many superhero movies. All companies are motivated by profit, those with shareholders much more so. We inherited a system which values capital over every and anything else. I'm sure Nintendo has chosen its prices strategically based on market factors and, given the current success and excellent catalogue of games on the S2, I don't see much changing for the console. Those who want it will buy it, just like anything else.

So, what? You were just talking out of your ass when you replied to me in a way that implied you were claiming Mario Kart World had Day One DLC? Watch your words more carefully next time.

And honestly, I think the only game for Switch 2 that arguably had "Day One DLC" was Pokemon Legends: Z-A Switch 2 Edition. And even then, the only thing that was "Day One" was two outfits. It was otherwise no different than the Season Pass formula already in use by literally everyone else (including, once again, Sonic Racing Crossworlds*) where you got a little something for "reserving" upcoming DLC right away instead of waiting until it released.

*Funny enough. Crossworlds also currently has one character locked behind a pre-order bonus that you can't get if you didn't pre-order, so all Sega would need to do would be to add a Battle Pass to have the whole AAA nickle-and-dime deal. Even Legends: Z-A didn't lock the Gardevoirite behind the pre-order/early purchase Ralts; it just let you get the Gardeviorite at an earlier point of the game if you claimed the event Ralts before a specific date.

Well, MKW's been getting updates every now and then since its release, so it might get to that point. After all, MK8 didn't become a console seller until the Deluxe version released on Switch with all of the Wii U version's DLC included.

(Seriously, when even Mario Kart and Smash weren't enough to significantly improve Wii U sales numbers, Nintendo knew it had a failed console. World has shown a lot more promise in generating Switch 2 sales in comparison to OG 8.)

It has been a year and they literally made online WORSE with updates. No clue why Nintendo wants people to run in the filler tracks so much.

You said "Is only Mario Kart World" I pointed there is several Nintendo games with Day One DLC so to play the full game you are paying a lot of money. I should have used more words but whatever.

Edit: Also there is now more 80 dollars games for the Switch 2 so you are wrong anyway.

Switch 2 upgrades don't count. If we're going to accept DLC/upgrades as part of the full pricing, then Sonic Racing Crossworlds is technically USD $90 since launch, and is commonly agreed to be mid at best (even Sega admitted it was a failure). And the upcoming GTA6 will technically be the first base-price USD $100 game, because nobody cares about the crippled version that will be missing cut-and-resold content at release.
(Edit: And it will be cut-and-resold content, because unlike Legends: Z-A's DLC that simply needed more time but had an option to pre-purchase for the early bonus, GTA6's content is suspected to be stuff that should've already been in in the game by default. As in: the stores for the content will be there in the game, but you won't be able to actually access them unless you purchase the $100 "actual full game" version.)

And technically, by your argument, the USD $150 Grand Theft Auto V Collectors Edition was the first $150 game, because it did include digital content that wasn't included in even the USD $80 Special Edition. So it still counts by your argument.

Seriously, do you grifters ever stop to think for one second before opening your mouths to throw up on everyone?
