Dekopon - (Mostly) Fullspeed 3DS Emulation on Nintendo Switch

Where do 3Ds saves get saved to and what format? Like what directory?

Im trying to get 100% save files for mario kart 7 and Mario 3D Land to generate shader caches to improve performance for new users.

Also are shader caches transferable between Tico & Dekopon, or Pc/Android and Dekopon?
Or would it need to be Switch-android crated shader caches?

Saves are stored on the virtual sd card that the emulator has in the same way a real 3DS saves them. I'm looking into some sort of tool (like Checkpoint) to dump decrypted saves so that they can be easily transported around and used either with a real 3DS or other emulators.

I assume shader caches are not transferable across anything, but I wouldn't know because I've never tested it.

Also, shader caches do contain some copyrighted game code, so I'm not sure about the legality of sharing them. I'd request that you don't share them in this thread, although I can't stop what you do elsewhere.

Could you please give a general directory address, like SD/Dekopon……. Or /switch/dekopon…. Ect for default location.

I have Raikopon and Dekopon and Tico 3Ds so im unorganized rn with everything 😔

Also does Dekopon support custom save path locations or file path?

It's `sdmc:/switch/dekopon` for the full path. Dekopon supports custom directories for ROMs (normally `sdmc:/switch/dekopon/roms` and it's main folder (normally `sdmc:/switch/dekopon`). Subfolders of the main directory cannot be changed at this moment.
Thanks. I'll take a look through that.

A in-app updater would be nice im spoiled by HB store, Tico/Retroarch and other HB that downloads mods without needing PC.
I’m almost done writing one, so it should be in the next release.

A new Dekopon build has been released: https://github.com/PalindromicBreadLoaf/dekopon/releases/tag/v2.2.0

This comes with quite a few new features that have been requested, including Amiibo, camera support, save management, USB ROM support, and auto-updating. I would recommend reading over the README before using these to see what is and isn't working, and how to use it.

You should clear your shader cache before using this version. While they should be automatically invalidated, it's always better to be safe than sorry. Shader compilation stutter should be reduced by a good bit, and async shader compilation is now fully async. This leads to some flickering while shaders are being compiled, but you don't have to deal with anywhere near as much stutter as before.

Besides that, don't expect a ton more performance overall than before. There may be a bit gained, but nothing crazy.

As always, please report any issues that you have and I'll do my best to look into them. Be sure to share logs too, they should be smaller now and easier to parse. Enjoy!

Also, not to be annoying, but if you enjoy my work, and are able to, you can donate to me here: https://ko-fi.com/palindromicbreadloaf. Don't in any way feel obligated to.

Nice update, being able to update in app is cool quality of life,

Btw would the code you made for updater be possible to implement into Nagas ports for Dolphin or Nethersx2?
Idk how code interacts with emulator, but would be nice

I have no idea how either of those ports work, nor the code behind them, but the structural code is fairly program-agnostic, so in theory it would. It's all GPLv2 licensed, so assuming licensing isn't an issue then it'd be able to be used for whatever.

Also, version 2.2.1 was just released. It's the same as 2.2.0, just without the crash on relaunch of the application.
