Do cheat codes work for anyone? I've tried a few simple ones, like moon jump in Ratchet & Clank, but none of them seem to work. So I'm wondering if anyone has successfully used cheats in a game?
I think cheats (pnach) don’t work in this emu on Nintendo switch
I’ve tried shao monks and shadow of colossus and they don’t work
Maybe next releases will have it work

For “Ratchet & Clank,” the best settings are an EE cycle rate of 100% (not lower) and the maximum EE cycle skip. If you overclock your cpu to just 1800 Mhz, you'll also need to reduce the draw distance in some open areas where there's a lot going on in the background, such as in the first level.
To do this, you can use the following cheat for the USA version of the game:
//Press L3 For Debug Menu
patch=1,EE,D013C95C,extended,0000FFFD
patch=1,EE,2015F5C4,extended,FFFFFFFF
//Press R3 Disable Debug Menu
patch=1,EE,D013C95C,extended,0000FFFB
patch=1,EE,2015F5C4,extended,00000000
I revised the code above a bit, since it was already quite old. I replaced “word” with “extended,” since that appears to be the more modern option for pnach codes. To use it press the L3 button while in a level to open the debug menu in which you can set the render distance to the preset “near.” After that close the debug menu with R3 again. This will make the game more playable. However, this setting isn't necessary everywhere: In the second level, the game runs okay even without reducing the render distance. If the music stops playing (because you opened the debug menu) you can open the in-game menu and close it again, that should solve that problem.
Edit: Limiting the frame rate to 50 Hz also seems to improve performance, especially in the second level (circa 5 more frames in general). It might also help to set the TV mode to PAL in the debug menu, since with PAL, theoretically, fewer frames need to be achieved to reach full game speed. However, cutscenes run asynchronously at 50 Hz, so it’s a matter of weighing the pros and cons.
The latest build brings a huge performance boost, really appreciate all the hard work! But I’m still running into broken 2D background graphics in The King of Fighters 98 Ultimate Match. Hoping this visual glitch can get fixed and performance can be improved further in future updates. Thank you so much for everything you’ve contributed to the Switch emulation community!

I don't think the game's logic is that closely tied to the frame rate. Because if you speed up the emulator by a factor of 0.2 at 50 fps, you do end up back at 60 fps, but everything runs faster. I've also noticed, though, that games slow down when you lower the frame rate significantly. So I'm not entirely sure.
I also noticed in Ratchet and Clank that performance improves a lot when you speed up the game. You can test this by disabling the frame rate cap when you are in the game or increasing the game speed to 150% in the settings. This gives you a performance boost of about 10 to 15 fps. However, it also makes everything move faster, which is not a good trait off
thank you for this gift i can bring my childhood back, just question i see a ps3 emulator is coming should i be hyped if i want to play prototype in it ?
thnx again

From what I've tried so far, 2D fighting games generally run at full speed with NetherSX2 on my overclocked V1 Switch, with the notable exception of Street Fighter Alpha Anthology, it's a mess with lots of graphical glitches and it's very slow.
Really interesting project. I tested NetherSX2 on my V1 Switch and compared it with my NVIDIA Shield TV Pro.
What surprised me is that, in some games, the Switch version performed better in my testing than the Shield. For example, with God Hand, the Switch was already very close to full speed at native resolution, and with Sys-CLK overclocking it improved even further. What surprised me most was that even at 720p resolution the Switch build was still performing better than my Shield setup.
Since the Shield uses a Tegra X1+ and runs Android natively, I was curious what makes this Switch implementation perform so well. Is it mainly the Vulkan path, the loader/wrapper approach, different driver behavior, or optimizations specific to this port?
I'm not suggesting an Android port or anything (If possible that would be awesome) — I'm just curious about the technical reasons why this Switch build can sometimes outperform a native Android device.
EDIT
I tested this using NetherSX2_nx 1.2.0.
After updating to NetherSX2_nx 1.2.1, I noticed that God Hand became unstable. During certain cutscenes, the game would crash and return me to the Switch home menu.
For this comparison, the performance results mentioned above are from NetherSX2_nx 1.2.0.
The bios file appear in the game list since v1.2.1.
Here's what I tried so far (with an overclocked V1 Switch). I only take gameplay segments into account (I don't care about fps drops or glitches in movies or menus, the speed % is just my visual estimation) :
games running at 90-100% speed :
- Hokuto No Ken Shinpan No Sousousei Kengou Retsuden (J)
- Hyper Street Fighter 2 (AI Nerf v1.0)
- Melty Blood - Actress Again (Japan)
- NeoGeo Battle Coliseum (Europe Australia)
- Sengoku Basara X (Japan)
- SNK vs. Capcom - SVC Chaos (Europe)
- Spectral vs. Generation (Europe) (Enable Hidden Characters v1.0)
70-90% speed :
- Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 Collector's Edition (E)
- Super Dragon Ball Z (U)(UNDUB v1.0)
- Tekken 5 (Unlock Jinpachi Mishima v1.0)
- Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution (Europe)
- Mega Man X7 (Ns Edition v1.5.2)
- Mega Man X8 (U)(Undub)
around 50% speed or below : - One Piece - Grand Battle Rush (Japan) : around 30-40%
- Saint Seiya The Sanctuary and The Hades (Europe) : ~50%
- Dawn Of Mana (Undub) : ~50%
- Soulcalibur 3 Arcade Edition Deluxe v1.21) : ~50% - Street Fighter Alpha Anthology (Europe) : glitchy and slow (~40%)
- Street Fighter EX3 (Europe) : very slow ~30% speed I guess - Tekken Tag Tournament (Europe) (v1.00) : from memory it runs worse than Tekken 5, around 50%
- Ys V Lost Kefin Kingdom Of Sand (English v1.0) : fps is dependant on how large the area is, it can get very slow
- Ultimate Mortal Kombat Deception (v7.0) : very slow, around 30% speed, the first save took an eternity.
other :
- Battle Stadium D.O.N (Japan) (T-En by Lord Izen v20230906) (Japanese voices) : doesn't boot, acts like a PS2 without a disk. - Namco x Capcom (Japan) (T-En by TransGen Final Version A) : doesn't boot, acts like a PS2 without a disk
I tried Deus Ex the conspiracy and had good luck with new update, its light enough game it should be alright.
I also played silent hill 2 at 1900+ MHZ with 50 EE and max EE skip and i made it to second save point, interiors seem to load better and given the city is less of focus im hoping later games nicer so can boost stuff.
I figured since slower game it might be alright on switch
