sys-con lets you use third-party controllers on a docked Switch via USB

syscon_image.png

Have you ever thought about hooking up another console's controller to your Switch but you don't fancy either carrying around a USB adapter dongle or running an app on another device for hid-mitm? Look no further then, as sys-con is here to save the day!

Sys-con is a custom Switch sysmodule that allows you to use third-party controllers on your Nintendo Switch. Unlike the other previously mentioned homebrew solution, which, as the name suggests, worked by MITMing Horizon OS' built-in hid module, sys-con just needs you to connect your controllers using your Dock's USB ports: no Wi-Fi connection or external applications required. Not only this will result in less input latency (and, of course, a much simpler setup) but it also means the sysmodule won't conflict with Atmosphère 0.9.4's libnx input workaround, making it fully compatible with the CFW's latest version!

There are, however, a few limitations. First off, as hinted before, sys-con only works in Docked mode. The sysmodule is also only compatible with DualShock 3, Xbox 360 (wired, the wireless dongle reportedly doesn't work) and Xbox One controllers, with DualShock 4 support coming soon. Lastly, rumble and motion controls do not work at the moment.

Sys-con has been developed by @cathery and can be downloaded by clicking the download link below. It officially supports Atmosphère and will work on FW 5.0.0 and up (warning: crashes or freezes may happen on 9.0.X due to high memory usage). You can install it by extracting the release's contents on your microSD card, overwriting if necessary, and then rebooting your console. For more information on upcoming features, troubleshooting and developer support, head over to the project's GitHub repo (also linked below).

Is this not working on 14.1.2? I'm on 13.1.0 and I'm not updating until a sys-con update makes it work on newer FW releases unless that never happens

Sys-con works great with my ps3 controller. I along with many thousands of other people now have a Stadia controller not being used. It would be great if we could use the Stadia controller (usb wired) connected to the Nintendo Switch dock. Please update Sys-con.

any chance for an update to make this app work with this controller

the switch n64 controller is never in stock thanks to scalpers and bots, and i originally bought the usb n64 controller from amazon in 2021 for a 64 emulator on my pc

i need a remap so that the nso menu and hte home buttons are on the d-pad and the c-buttons act like they are supposed to

i don't play any n64 games on switch that require the use of the d-pad, so that's what i'm trying to get done with it until i can get an official controller

I second this motion.
The community would gain loads if more generic controllers were supported.

it would be cool if this could be updated to work on fw 17.0 please i would love to be able to use my qanba fightstick with out having to buy a mayflash dongle thanks

I am using the latest version(v1.3.0) of sys-con on my switch, but I am experiencing a minor but significant delay.
My joystick is NEOGEO ASP, I added its VID/HID in the config.ini and did the mapping I want, all works well.
but when I started playing fighting games like Street Fighters II, I can feel a small lag, that my hand moves are delayed.
I have no way to make clear how much latency it is as it is on Switch, I can only describe it, that this delay is not big, it is like 30-40ms?, but it is vital enough to make fighting games hard to play on.
Below is the current config I am using,

polling_frequency_ms=1
log_level=2
discovery_mode=0
auto_add_controller=1

Any thing I can do to make is improved? Appreciate all bros that would help!

sys-con when sys-pro walks in

i seen that sys-con supports much more controllers now

and even though i have the retro fighters n64 controller

i have to ask, if this supports this generic controller: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HCPDGT3?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
it does i am so happy because about 4 months ago i baught a mayflash adapter now i dont have to use it with my modded switch in my other modded switch in stock mode i would have to but that is ok i just tested my qanba pearl fight stick and just x-men vs streetfighter in the marvel vs capcom fighting collection the older version of syscon barely supported any fight stick now it does and i am happy good times

so it uses it like a norml n64 controller for n64 games now?

it past, it either wouldn't register it or it'd register it as a pro controller

with my fight sick which is for playstation the cross was the b button circle was a button square was y button and triangle was the x button all the rest of the buttons such as d pad right stick and left stick and the triggers and shoulders are the same. as for n64 controllers i do not know the wirder versions would probably reagister to the config ofthe switch buttons however these can be adjusted in the system settings and supposedly the new sys-con con be configured as well but i have not tried this yet

DS4 doesn't pair in FW 20.0.1
are you trying to connect with a usb cable if not then you should make sure you have the latest mission control as that is the module that lets you connect bluetooth controllers natively on the switch syscon only allows usb devices like fight sticks or any controller connected via usb i hope this helps as to the latest firmware there is a lot of bugs in a variety of programs right now i my self reverted back to 19.01 because tinfoil was locking up and not loading if you are going to revert be mindful that due to significant changes in fw20.01 you will have to go into maintenance mode after reinstalling 19.01 and initialize with out deleting save data you will lose all your installed games and have to reinstall them if you do this. when i was on 20.01 i was able to get my ps5 controller to connect and it worked fine so maybe try the latest mission control good luck

I just added Retro-bit Saturn controller support but it's commented out by default because it has the same USB ID as a Hori pad. I rebound the buttons so the 6 face buttons are correct in Switch Online Mega Drive. Since it's just an INI entry you can run it with existing builds:
https://github.com/o0Zz/sys-con/blo...f185df89f/dist/config/sys-con/config.ini#L452

I also added Adaptoid N64 converter support, but that needs a new build because there's a fix to the HID parsing library.
