changing wii u gamepad region, is this safe/safest or up-to-date method?

I have a gamepad on the way and was wondering if there are any common risks with this process:

As it says at the top you don't need to do this anymore. As with any firmware flashing there is always a small risk.

update: went ahead and went through process and had no issues. The flashing DOES take a few minutes each time (you do 2x flashes) so I recommend putting your gamepad on the dock so you don't experience an outtage, as the results would likely not be good if so. Also if you've never changed the language on your system before, it's apparently normal for that step to take a while too.
