THE SAD JOURNEY
I had one of these beasts:
It was pretty solid, for an early-2000's USB controller. In my teenage years, I played through tons of games with it.
To be charitable, I give it to a college buddy. Unfortunately, one of his (many) bad habits was forcefully rolling cords around controllers. Before long, it had connecting/disconnecting issues. ("BA'DOO..." "BA'DUH")
We knew it was borked, so we tried to open it up and check out the cable. Long story short, it could not be fixed.
THE EMOTIONALLY DRAINING EPILOGUE
Later on, I gave him my wireless Xbox 360 controller and USB receiver. Knowing his habits, I told him that the receiver easily breaks, so don't put it up high. I emphasized the delicate nature of the receiver as best I could.
It only took him about a week to break it. We did not attempt to fix it.
TL;DR: Long live the Logitech Dual Action USB Gamepad.
