Overview

Basic Description and Mod Percentage

This an English fan translation for YO-KAI WATCH Jam: Y School Heroes -Bustlin' School Life- and its DLC.

It is highly unlikely any terms will be changed to something else, and things changing are up to the mod team's discretion.

Passwords

Passwords have now been translated!
...Well, sort of.
Due to how the password file works, it's impossible to translate any passwords not publicly released. At this time, I've only translated the passwords that were released, but I may create my own passwords to make the rewards from the other, unreleased passwords accessible.
Using the passwords list in the txt file at the bottom of this post, enter them in the Deliveries section.

NOTE: Since this game does not have a fullwidth patch, (Basically, a patch that forces all letters to be normal-spaced) the passwords will not work if you type on the normal English keyboard. You'll have to type with fullwidth English characters.

Compatibility

This mod works on both hardware and emulator. Elements like the custom name and icon will not work on emulator.
This mod only supports the Nintendo Switch version of the game.

Downloading and Installing

Ryujinx Installation Instructions

  1. Set up Ryujinx and Y School Heroes. I will not assist you in getting the original game, so don't ask.
  2. Download the mod here. It should open to a 'romfs' folder and two files named 'config.ini' and 'icon.jpg'.
  3. Right click on Y School Heroes, and click 'Open Atmosphere Mods Directory'.
  4. Create a new folder for the English Mod. You can call it 'Y School Heroes English Translation', or something else, if you want.
  5. Go into this new folder you have created, and drag the 'romfs' folder in the zip into the empty folder space.

Switch Installation Instructions

  1. Download the mod here. It should open to a 'romfs' folder and two files named 'config.ini' and 'icon.jpg'.
  2. Locate the 'atmosphere/contents/010051D010FC2000' directory on your SD Card. (If you don't have that exact path, just create the folders necessary.)
  3. Create a new folder for the English Mod. You can call it 'Y School Heroes English Translation', or something else, if you want.
  4. Go into this new folder you have created, and drag the 'romfs' folder in the zip into the empty folder space.

Known Bugs or Issues

Untranslated Text

As this game is fairly large, there is bound to be untranslated sections of the game. Please be patient as these get translated. Certain areas of the game have more priority over others regarding translation.

FAQ

Character Names

While this game mainly features new characters, there are returning Yo-kai from previous games in the series. Many of them have names seen in the localizations of the YO-KAI WATCH series, but some use their Japanese names instead. This is because certain things make more sense with the Japanese names and their original meanings, rather than the localized names, which have a tendency to be localized strangely.
Additionally, names used for the new characters are generally ones used in the official Animax sub or other official media.

Yo-ki

Something that may confuse new people is the term Yo-ki. It is used many times over the course of Y School Heroes, and is vital to understanding how some moves work and even the story. However, Yo-ki is not new to Y School Heroes. The localization has either poorly renamed it or outright removed it. So, here I will give a short refresher on what it actually is for people who are unaware.

Yo-ki is not a misspelling of Yo-kai, but is actually the source of a Yo-kai's energy. This is also what other Yo-kai or the Yo-kai Watch can pick up on. They don't feel an aura, they sense another Yo-kai's Yo-ki. In past games, it is also not the Soul Meter, but the Yo-ki Gauge. Similarly to how Auras are actually Yo-ki, Treasure Auras in YO-KAI WATCH 3's Busters T are similar. You exchange not Ghastly Fragments, but Yo-ki Fragments, for Treasure Yo-ki that can subsequently get you into Yo-ki Dungeons, not Aura Dungeons.
