Anyone know how I could increase FPS on this game?

I just bought a childhood game of mine called NOX on GOG and am currently playing it but it's choppy as all hell, at best it runs on like 40 fps.
I tried to look around to see if there is some way to increase the fps or make the game feel less choppy in some other way but I'm not too tech savvy so I couldn't find a solution.
Would anyone know a way I could solve this?

https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Nox says the game is limited to 30 FPS. It also links to some utilities that may improve compatibility on newer Windowses.

If it's stuttering, there are things you can check in general:
Are you running something else that's resource-intensive (could be your browser)?
Can you change the compatibility mode (none, Windows 98, Windows 95 &c.)?

Yea I changed the compatibility mode, it wouldn't work without that. I was just hoping there is some way to make it run smoother but I think that just how the game is, oh well.. Thanks either way! <3
