The games will remain playable until June 9 2027, but after that date, the cloud servers for the games will shut down permanently and the games themselves will be useless, as they run entirely via cloud streaming.

Owners of the Kingdom Hearts cloud versions are entitled to a 50% discount for buying the Switch 2-exclusive versions of the games that don't require cloud streaming or an internet connection, but players who cannot afford a Switch 2 will be permanently locked out of the games they purchased.

They're not Switch 2 exclusive (or rather I.5+II.5 isn't), the trailer confirms as much. Mind you, it's still scummy to make you buy the non cloud version, but on the other hand you had to be very stupid in the first place to buy cloud versions of PS2 games which, by all means, should be perfectly capable of running on more modern hardware (and can since they are in fact making non cloud versions) on a console that has an infamously bad network.

Last edited by Osha,
inb4 revival servers come that require existing PC copies of the games... y'know, assuming people would even want to still run a cloud version of the game you soon won't even be able to buy

though i doubt it when the one of the most famous things about these versions being that it broke Trinity Limit in KH2 in a way no other version did
