The tutorial still specifies using some grip (or a dedicated connection cable, whatever that is) to connect the joy cons to a computer. Unless I missed an instruction somewhere?
I really think that's just a generic instruction for controllers they sell with a usb-c port and it doesn't actually apply to this controller.

Rather than buying random grips, here's a tutorial that's probably more useful, found it on an AliExpress listing. Attachment below.

It's the exact manual I own. We have to interface with the joycons 2 to connect through USB and that way the software can be used. So far, no luck with the grip I got, I'm guessing there's a very specific one that works.

Reminds me of the Hori attachment set (grip) so the handheld Hori Joy-Cons can be used as a wired controller. It's expensive and honestly not worth it.

I bought a cheap wired/rechargeable grip from AliExpress... It didn't work. It was worth a try at least.

I got it working! While one could go buying random Joy Con 2 grips until one worked, I just bit the bullet and bought the official Joy Con 2 Charge grip and it automatically registered.

What led me to trying this even though the Official grip is expensive is that Nintendo mentions on their website for pairing Switch 2 Joy Cons that one method to pair your Joy Cons 2 is by using their official charge grip to connect to the Switch 2 dock. This suggested that the official grip has USB data connectivity and not just charge capability.

I'm now able to use both my 3rd party joy cons 2 with my updated Switch 2 and all seems to work as expected now!

Thank you for this! I'll try to talk with friends if someone has one and probably update the first post with a tutorial
