Why do you guys do this to yourselves with Nintendo's financial results just around the corner (May 8). Nintendo will post breaking record numbers again.

the fanboys cant hold up the numbers much longer its already losing its steam

And that was proven to be fake. Not only Nintendo denied the rumors, but the Circana report from last week confirmed it.

But don't worry. I will be sure to return here on May 8.

If Switch 2 sales where so low, the media would be all over it like they did with the Wii U. Every article at the time was saying Nintendo is dead and should be a software company only.

Totally agree. Good news is no news for most news sites / forums / reddit

Of course going back to the original thread title -

"As of early 2026, the Nintendo Switch 2 has drastically outperformed the Wii U, surpassing its entire 13.56 million lifetime sales in just seven months. While the Wii U was a commercial failure, the Switch 2 has reached 17.37 million units sold by early 2026."

So the OP here got it pretty massively wrong.....

Sorry I stand corrected by the big N themselves this week as they did a Sony and found a couple of million more units down the back of the sofa....

"Nintendo Switch 2 has reached 19.86 million million units sold."

Somehow someone somewhere on the web will try and "if and but" that (its a phase, its not selling in certain areas , wait for the lack of games to impact it , they're all replicants etc etc etc) but as I said earlier its all about sales and they nailed it.

I know I'm late to this one, but what a smooth brained hot take when that was posted. There was zero indication it would fail, even at the higher price, and the original unit is still trucking along successfully even with a price increase which was surprising. It's anything but a failed system, both of them. Nintendo has this magical sweet spot that just works for them where now on this new one it has well enough power to pull off a true modern looking level of quality and even on the go, largely with DLSS pulling some lovely resolution enhancement tricks to help too. I think with the economy as it is and has been since before the NS2 hit, and now with the idiotic drainage of memory and processors with the AI bs ramping up, they're raking it in because they've maintained quality, haven't jacked up the price on the unit itself either, and it has its library plus the free boost in power to a massive amount of the originals too in its favor. Couple that with the disgusting prices the other guys come up to, including that what $900 PS5 pro it went up to and they look like the discount alternative that makes sense.

Nintendo understands marketing. They learned from the Wii U. Refresh old IP that is unstoppable and they will always make bank. Why make something new when you can just keep milking the same cow until it's dry?

Yeah works for porsche (911) , apple (iPhone) and Marvel (every marvel film ever) too !

And even if they are milking, and the average gamer age these days is now pushing into the upper 30s, we need to ignore our cares. You have a bunch of kids, teens, and under 30 gamers who never played these games or barely experienced the second hand so they're NEW to more people than not. Don't have to like it, don't have to support if you choose, but it's a winning move. You just need balance between the old and new so everyone can have a piece of the action.

It sucks big time that they don't drop the new Pokémon game to the Switch. Plus the rumours about the Ocarina of Time remake is for Switch 2 only. Makes me disapointed. Historically they have been double dropping games for the new gen and old gen. Like Twilight Princess came to Gamecube and Wii. Breath of the Wild came to Wii U and Switch.
So based on that I hope it will fail, but I think it will not.

One would think after all the complaining about Scarlet/Violet's performance on Switch 1, folks would not want Winds and Waves to be released on it with even worse performance.

You want another technical failure like Scarlet Violet?

Twilight Princess released on the Gamecube because
1. It was designed on the gamecube. The Wii version was the port, because it was the version with flipped viewport
2. The Wii was not much powerful than the gamecube. The Wii was, for all intents and purposes, an overclocked gamecube.

Nintendo have rarely double dipped on same games across generations around the launch period.
Twilight princess was the only one for the Wii. BOTW was the one for the Switch. They both had the same reason. Development took too long so they released it on the next console as well
The SNES, N64,GameCube,WiiU, GBA, DS, and 3DS never had dual releases
