Hey everyone, hope you’re all doing well!
I’m reaching out because I really need some help and I’m not sure what exactly to look for.

I have a Switch OLED that seems to have an issue with the SD card speed. It’s showing very low read/write performance. I should mention that the problem is definitely not with the SD cards themselves, since I’ve tested with two different SD cards across three different consoles.

I also own a Switch V2 and a Switch Lite, and both work perfectly fine with the same SD cards.
I’ve attached some benchmark screenshots from Hekate to show the speed differences.

On the consoles that work fine (the V2 and the Lite), both SD cards show a Current rate of 104 MB/s (208 MHz).
However, on the OLED, the exact same cards only show 25 MB/s (50 MHz).

The modchip installed on the OLED is a Picofly Raspberry Pi RP2040, purchased from AliExpress.
I’ve already updated both the modchip firmware and the Switch firmware.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
What would you recommend checking next?
I’ve already inspected the modchip installation and couldn’t find any visible issues also i the card reader borad it seems to be ok and super clean..

I’m starting to think something might be wrong with the motherboard.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If there was something wrong with your motherboard then the other card would also be impacted I would think.

Have you tried to test read speeds on a PC?

Are the contacts of the SD card maybe dirty?

If you have been using this SD card for quite a while, it may be data fragmentation or corruption.
Data is stored in blocks on the card and as long as you're in the same block, they are very fast.
If there is data corruption, the SD card will use a spare piece of flash memory but then they can become slow.

That current rate of 25MB/s is your problem.
I know but what is the cause of 25MB/s ?? What to check?

All the cards have the same results in Oled switch... they all work in 25MB/s in other switches i have tested they work in 104 MB/s... something is wrong with the motherboard i believe... but I don't know what is causing this...

Might be the daughter board, you got an A2 card just to confirm it can read full speed?

I have tested the 2 sd that I have posted... I believe that they are both a1 card's... I will try to find an a2 card just to check..but I think that something is wrong with the mainboard... maybe I knocked off something when installing the picofly....

Just an update I check with a new daughter board and the results are the same .. so the problem is in the mainboard... maybe a faulty cap or resistor? Can the problem be the cpu ?
