I was thinking about phones and there bootloader failsafes... and so I was wondering if it could be a bit of both (software+hardware) and intended (so to explain the difference between the 2 messages). My other theory being, a fuse is triggered somehow and it locks then the PS5 into a Showcase/Demon mode.

Yeah really the possibilities are endless, and in the meantime there is a 0 day that will not be shared publicly :(

Hi, I'm joining.
Console purchased used.

1) CE-105628-2: License issue
2) DualSense firmware update issue (forced via PC)
3) CE-120239-7: USB recovery issue (stuck at 27%, I used the alternative route suggested in the post to boot it)

I haven't disassembled the console yet.

Here's some more information about my situation:
1) Warranty seal present (never opened)
2) I bought the console without a controller or anything else
3) The drive works, or rather, the disc inserts, spins, the internal motor does something, but then nothing appears on the screen. Tried with a PS4 and PS5 disc.
4) Firmware 13.00

Has anyone ever managed to resolve this issue?

Hi, personally I’ve given up trying to fix this console. As far as hardware is concerned, I don’t think it has any issues. I replaced, in order, the SSD controller, the SSD NAND chips (the replaceable ones), and the southbridge, but I kept having the same problem. I decided to keep the board to take measurements useful for other repairs. The issue is software-related, or some imposed lockout — it’s unknown.

I can tell you that I called Sony support and provided the console's serial number. There's no lock on Sony's side. Since it's out of warranty, they charged me €230 for the out-of-warranty repair.

It reminds me of a similar error on the PS3 Slim. When a component on the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module failed, the PS3 wouldn't reset. Could this be a similar error?

In the list of replacements you made, I don't see the Wi-Fi module or any related components (for example, the voltage regulator for the Wi-Fi chip).

This could be related to Astrobot. I was able to play Astrobot offline, but as soon as I connect the console to the internet, the game crashes. Could it be that the chip isn't receiving the correct voltage? Or does the chip have some unusual functionality we're not aware of that needs to be replaced?

Hi, I watched this video. I saw that by removing the Blu-ray drive and resetting and installing the firmware, you can use the PS5 in digital mode without any issues. Has anyone tried this?
