you can get the mod files from team forever online.Hi, sorry to bug you over a year later, but could you please provide a more detailed explanation on how to install Sonic 2 Absolute/Sonic 1 Forever?
I have tried putting the "absolute.data" file directly into the folder and it didn't work, then I created a "mods" folder in the Sonic2 folder and put the "absolute.data" file in there and it also didn't work. After that, I tried installing the mod normally and doing the same process as before, still didn't work. Am I missing something?
Yeah I came across this being discussed on Reddit yesterday actually. I messaged the guy behind the github and he said that a public release is probably only a few weeks away at this point. So we just gotta be patient.it looks like someone has ported sonic 3 air to the wiiu, but the code needs to be compiled.

I think I speak for many when I say, we're looking forward to this! This is the final piece of the puzzle to give the Wii U it's own unofficial version of Sonic Origins.hey i made an account just to post about the fact that i am indeed working on this, heres a demo video of it (albeit very badly) working on Cemu
it can run at 60fps i just capped it to 30 while i optimize it
!!!FLASHING WARNING, IT FLASHES BLACK ALOT!!!
another thing, its red because im using the cpu renderer and that path is nowhere near complete. the hardware renderer will be the one shipped

For real, although I never managed to get the Sonic 1&2 mods working on my Wii UI think I speak for many when I say, we're looking forward to this! This is the final piece of the puzzle to give the Wii U it's own unofficial version of Sonic Origins.
lucky for you, i preloaded the mods into a nice wuhb for use on da UFor real, although I never managed to get the Sonic 1&2 mods working on my Wii U
no as you need the Sonic_Knuckles_wSonic3.bin, which cannot be shipped legally. if it prompts a file picker, then maybe but i know nothing about libretro lmaoJust had a random thought, would Sonic 3 air's oxygen engine work as a libretro core?
Forever and Absolute do work on Wii U, but not the latest versions, you have to use earlier releases, pretty much right before Amy became built into the latest versions. For real, although I never managed to get the Sonic 1&2 mods working on my Wii U
Sonic Forever's last wii u compatible version was 1.4.1Forever and Absolute do work on Wii U, but not the latest versions, you have to use earlier releases, pretty much right before Amy became built into the latest versions.
Thanks for specifying the versions, didn't have mine in front of me at the time to verify which versions worked.Sonic Forever's last wii u compatible version was 1.4.1
Sonic 2 Absolute's last wii u compatible version was 1.0.1
varying success with the other versions. those are the most consistentThanks for specifying the versions, didn't have mine in front of me at the time to verify which versions worked.
Hey, I know it's silly, but is there any chance the game port will support 4:3?hey i made an account just to post about the fact that i am indeed working on this, heres a demo video of it (albeit very badly) working on Cemu

There has been a 4:3 mod for Sonic 3 AIR for some time, The vanilla version of AIR comes with a mod labeled "classic-mode-sample-mod" that you just have to put in the mod folder and then you'll be in 4:3. Now I obviously can't guarantee it will work, as not all Sonic 1 and 2 decomp mods work on the Wii U, but many do. However, I can't figure out how to get any of the Sonic CD mods to work on the decomp on the Wii U, so we'll have to wait and see probably if mods cooperate for the Wii U build of AIR or not.Hey, I know it's silly, but is there any chance the game port will support 4:3?
I use my Wii U on an old CRT TV (mostly because lately I've been playing more GameCube and Wii games) and it's kind of sad that almost no games have implemented 4:3 mode on the Wii U (the only one I know that did was Shakedown Hawaii) and many homebrew games have a broken mode, like in RetroArch.
It would be great to play this version of Sonic 3 on a CRT TV.
It will work. I haven't changed the engine that much (including the mod manager) so all mods that work on PC will work on Wii U.There has been a 4:3 mod for Sonic 3 AIR for some time, The vanilla version of AIR comes with a mod labeled "classic-mode-sample-mod" that you just have to put in the mod folder and then you'll be in 4:3. Having said that, if you just want to play Sonic 3 (and Knuckles) in 4:3 on the Wii U with all sorts of the options that AIR added with the major exception of Widescreen, and some other options, then you could just opt to inject the romhack of Sonic 3 Complete into a Genesis VC game on the Wii U. Sonic 3 Complete is pretty great: it gives you all sorts of toggle options like only play Sonic 3, or only Sonic & Knuckles, or both combined, or even just Blue Sphere. You can choose to restore zone orders, choosing which music for zones you prefer, etc. etc.
Sonic 3 AIR's biggest appeal on the Wii U (at least to me) is native widescreen like the other decomps have seen on the system. (Also the option to drop dash will be nice too, but I'm not exactly dying for that in Sonic 3). Otherwise, if you just want the full experience in 4:3, I don't see what would make it worth waiting for as opposed to the already available Sonic 3 Complete.
Every time I try to load Sonic 1 & 2 I always get a black screen. I can still access the Home menu and return to the Wii U menu, the game just won't load, even though I have the Rsdk of both games
