This is the last version released by Sky3DS+ being v140. You don't necessarily need to go back to an older version unless it has benefits. https://gbatemp.net/download/sky3ds-firmware.37447/

If you'd like, I could upload v130 for you, but I generally would not recommend using an older version as previously stated for compatibility reasons.

Here are the instructions on how to upgrade your Sky3DS+ flashcart.
  • Extract the "v140.rar" archive - you should end up with a file called "firmware.bin".
  • Insert a formatted microSD card into your PC's SD card reader, it should come up as a removable disk.
  • Copy the firmware file onto the top-level of your SD card (this should be the root, not in any other folder).
  • Once it has finished transferring, right-click on the disk (your SD card), and select 'Eject' from the drop-down list.
  • Safely remove your microSD card from the card reader.
  • Insert your microSD into your Sky3DS+, then connect the Sky3DS+ into your PC with the microUSB cable.
  • A red LED light will stay idle for 10-seconds, turn to green, and then begin to flash rapidly for 10-seconds. (DO NOT remove the cable while it is updating! You can BRICK your Sky3DS+ Card!)
  • Once it has finished updating, the LED will turn off, meaning that the Sky3DS+ has successfully updated.

Thanks for sharing all of this!

The reason why I'm asking for v130 is, because I've one on my way and the seller told me he never updated the FW on the cart, so it means it's either on v110 or v112.

v130 works just fine with Sun and Moon - that's all I need it for, so will you please upload the v130?

Thanks a lot and have a nice day :)

Fair enough. I have uploaded the firmware file.

Do Sun and Moon NOT work in v1.40? And... does Sky3DS+ work on the latest 3DS Firmware? It's been so very long since I've touched my 3DS (and even then, it was to play the C64 emulator), that I don't have a clue anymore. I wouldn't even know what firmware I have on it. But I have a Gateway, which is definitely trash nowadays, Sky3DS, and Sky3DS+. And Supercard DStwo, Acecard 2, DSTWO Plus... I think I have a hoarding problem...

Not sure if you can run Sun and Moon on Sky3DS+ according to the GBAtemp Wiki: https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/3DS_Flashcart_Comparison

Maybe? You can try by converting the game to card-1, but since the Sky3DS+ acts the same way as a 3DS cartridge, then I don't think modifying the ROM is possible.

And your second question, so far I have seen a video of Sky3DS+ working on the 11.15 firmware, some have said that it should work with ALL firmwares; although, I'm unable to confirm whether this is true. Flashcards like the OG Sky3DS and its clones have been blocked in a later system update (think it was v9.5 or v10.0).

Yes - Sky3DS+ can run card-2 games like Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon.
Funnily enough, Pokemon Sun and Moon (Ultra and regular) are probably the only mainline Pokemon games that aren't card2, they don't store savedata on the same chip as the game itself, and apparently just use a bigger than usual savechip instead.

They are both card-2 games.
They are not:

The patch is you're talking about works the other way around - it makes card1 games act as card2 games.

@SylverReZ So I got my hands on the sky3ds+ followed your steps & updated it & it's working fine, the only problem i'm getting is the sd card doesn't show up on computer using the micro usb cable on the cart, it's not a big issue but if there's a fix let me know, also is there a way to open games list menu on the sky3ds like gateway or you just have to push the buttons to change the games?

If that's a Sky3DS+, you push the left and right orange rocker buttons to change the games. There's no on-screen menu interface like Gateway did.

Once you did copy the "firmware.bin" file to the microSD card and updated the Sky3DS+, I recommend formatting the card with SD Formatter (or FAT32format GUI if your card is 32GB or less) then transfer your encrypted .3DS ROMs onto the root. If your card is damaged, format it, then run h2testw to check for errors.

Hello, i have trouble when try to use Sky3ds+ to play pokemon ultra sun/moon. The rom is over 4gb so it's too big to copy over to the fat32 sd card. I found a guide to use 3ds explorer to trim down the rom, but the link in that guide has expired. I try another guide and use NDsTokyoTrim3 and the game does not appear when press the button to change title. Does some one have experience about this problem that can help ? Thank you very much.
