BootMii Failed -1... Can't remember the fix

I haven't modded a Wii in about 8 years and I can't remember how to work this

Did the Str2 method. Got Homebrew loaded but BootMii is throwing failed -1 SD card error. Tried a different SD still not working and its not locked. The Wii is recognizing the SD as I can see it in the home menu

Anyone got the easiest solution for me? Download BootMii directly to the SD? Is LetterBombing still a thing?

My son just wants to play GC & Wii games lol

Yeah, the 2 i tried are freshly formatted fat32

May try LetterBombing and hope it is an issue between HackMii and the SD... Otherwise need to try and find another SD
 
You can still softmod and make a nand backup with a hard drive using nanddumper@ios. Install bootmii later whenever u get your hands on on a dif SD, but u shouldn't need it unless u try dumb stuff and need to recover a brick, and even then with priiloader and an SD card u can launch bootmii even if it's not installed (see Casper2Bootmii), assuming u have a compatible sd on hand by then. So if the wii isn't capable of installing bootmii boot2, which many aren't, then skipping installation of bootmii ios isn't really introducing that much additional risk

ahhhhh so copy nand with nanddumper and skip the bootmii for now. Then in the future if i needed to recover or want to install bootmii get a compatible SD. Much appreciated!!

Extra question... Would you continue with Str2hax or would you do a different method since i will be skipping bootmii for the time being?
 
If it were me I'd use modmii, and it would have even told you what I did previously too. But where you're at you don't need to reinstall the hbc, just launch nandumper@ios from the hbc then continue with your guide (priiloader, cios, etc), whether that guide be modmii's or wii.hacks.guide's, either way

Forgot to update this.... Ended up LetterBombing. BootMii loaded and i was able to grab the Nand

My son now realizes Mario Galaxy 1 is far superior to 2
