PS5 Slim stuck in SAFE MODE (CE-120239-7)

@simkard

FYI :

I have noticed an unusually hot temperature (compared to another PS5) in the area close to the fan where the radiator is (I think that's where the storage ICs are right ?). What if the ones failing are indeed the ICs that can't be replaced. Is there a way to clone them ?

Also If you have any doubt the disc drive that came with my faulty PS5 Slim has no issue, it's the motherboard that can't play along with it (since my disc drive was tested on another PS5 and worked as expected with that healthy PS5 slim)

Thanks for your heads up on that one.
Actually, I still haven't receive my 50pin ribbon cable for connecting the front PCB (power button & USB-C).

Anyway, by side of that, I totally agree on the fact that the disc drive works 100%, I already tested it on another PS5 Slim I have here and had absolutely no problem getting it to work.

The temperature thing is interesting but to be fairly honest, I think the problem relies between these two possibilities :
  1. Hardware problem with reserved storage SSD ICs (not replaceable ... or maybe but need to be cloned as is to new ICs ... if possible)
  2. Software problem with reserved storage which might contain some wrong entries
    1. For that, the solution doesn't exist at that time and we can't even jailbreak these consoles yet as version installed do not have (YET) a jailbreak path.
Well ... as I can't really test new things, I can't really make some progress.

By any chance there is a way to get UART output logs (not the ones related to the H/W problems everybody use) ?
I would look at boot logs, kernel logs, etc ... maybe there might be something interesting inside while comparing to another console.
I know there are settings in NOR that are related to blablaLOGS or blablaEVENTS, but I couldn't test for now.
Anyone might have some inputs on that side ?

Just so you know, it's also impossible to update a controller's firmware. It crashes at 15% with the error code CE-119224-9.
So in my opinion there's definitely something wrong with the system software part / partition.

Received my new ribbon cable, anyway, I'm back at the same scenario with this PS5 Slim.
Nothing helps and it seems that the license problem persists.
Anyone made some progress ?

Exactly, I do believe that only those 2 possibilities are valid after reading the entire thread

Hi, as I mentioned earlier, for me these consoles are as if they had a kind of special ban. If it were a common issue, Sony would have released an update to fix it!

Hi all
No news regarding recover it, but at least some hope. I've just tested the proof of concept for a future exploit on PS5, regarding the use of Youtube app as a point. See video from Modded Warfare channel.

This is in an early stage, but there is a recovery file with the youtube app.
So I test my PS5 with this license issue, and it is the first app beyond the ones already installed that works...and crash as expected.
So there is some hope to at least be able to use those units as a jailbreak on the future. Currently nothing available for 11.60 firmware, and this Y2JB is just a PoC, but at least some hope for the future months. Let's see.

Thanks for your message @Barkillero .
Since the latest improvments on Y2JB jailbreak, I'm pretty much thinking the same about these locked down consoles.
Crossing fingers to receive news from Gezine soon and get the jailbreak applied to these consoles.

That's a long shot nonetheless.
In fact the Y2JB works up to fw 12.02, but unfortunately we have kernel exploit only up to fw 10.01.
So until there is a kernel exploit compatible with the firmware of our consoles (mine for example is 11.60) we will have to wait until god knows when (even if the Y2JB is live and "ready").

Youhouuuuuuuu good news from today is that TheFLow hits us again with a major Kernel Exploit to be implemented as a JB of course (PS4 fw up to 13.02 and PS5 up to fw 12.02), the road to salvation is closed than ever :)

hello, i have a ps5 with same problem.....
anyone found a solution????
Not yet... the only feasible one seems to wait until an exploit become available, to jailbreak it. Not for a standard online use, but at least be able to play backups.

well, today i tried my ps5 slim and it plays ps plus games via streaming....!!! it needs premium account of course
so it is not that bad, i can enjoy some games

Has anyone tried launching a game from an external hard drive? Can anyone?
I don't have one to test by myself unfortunately.

Greetings gentlemen, I join those who have exactly the same problem, everything that has been discussed here so far is exactly my problem, I bought the console in France. So it seems I'm not the only one.

YES, that's right, that message appears at boot and I can't reset the console from safe mode, it freezes at 26%.

Same as all of us. It has to mean something. Like some kind of advanced demo mode...

For those who want to experiment with the BIOS : https://uartcodes.com/bios-builder
Do you think the problem is in the bios? I tried I think about 20 variants, none of them worked. I will also try this variant with the building probably in the next few days
I'm thinking, haven't these consoles been in video game arcades in some malls? Has anyone ever had their console broken at home while they were the owner?

I'm convinced there is a part of software (be it system or chip related). It's only a guess considering, there shouldn't be any difference like that because for my part I updated the firmware using a PUP and still this message stayed the same.
