Yes, I really liked the game as a kid

Now I really struggle to go back to it, but I liked doing all the different stages and unlocking white and black yoshi

But I can accept it's fundamentally a flawed game
You need Jesus!

Understand the following:
- Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island has difficulty that rewards player.
- Yoshi's Story 64: Same, except player choose difficulty by choosing play-style. If you collect Hearts, you open Stages/Chapters 2,3,4. Each with increaded difficulty.

Newer Super Mario / Yoshi games feels like they're done specifically to hold the Player's Hand, with unecessary mechanics.
These new games from WiiU onwards feels like a slap on the face for "veterans" / "hardcore" players.

The core mechanic of having to eat a bunch of fruit to clear a level, I think, is bad

I find the art looks beautiful, but I can't imagine a huge audience for this game; it looks a bit text-heavy and deep for younger kids, but too slow and boring for most older kids.
It really kind of reminds me of Kirby Dream Land 3 with its slower gameplay and sometimes convoluted puzzles (e.g. don't step on any flowers throughout the level and you'll get an item from the little character at the end) but at least that game had some level of difficulty.

But the real tragedy is that this is the same series as Yoshi's Island and we're never hitting that high again.

This looks cool.

All Yoshi games have been leaning into exploration, mainly with their collectables,
or alternate paths in Yoshis Story.
But this game puts even more emphasis on exploration, which helps to differentiate it from other platformers like mario, imo.

When enemies/characters you encounter are this mechanically rich, surely the game must be fun.

i dont wanna spread hate or anything but this game looks boring AF, the trailer last 3:30 minutes and fail to showcase anything at least interesting. What happen with the creativity with Woolly world?, Crafted world was also boring AF and this definitely looks to be the same. Its incredible the downfall of yoshi games. I hope the rumored port of woolly world becomes true
It’s not even a dang platformer it’s a literal baby game, I love the art style so much but that’s the only thing going for it, they even make the video “made for kids” they only do that for rare circumstances if it’s a baby game

I actually really liked Yoshi's Island DS as it's pretty similar gameplay and looks wise to the SNES Yoshi's Island (still the best one by far).
The gameplay mostly matched, but I think the level designers were nowhere near up to the same standard as the original.

Looks way too easy. I know this has been the case for many Yoshi games but I wish they would go a more challenging route.
Guess I stick to SMW romhacks that feature Yoshi(s) als playable characters for the time being. :D
Yoshi games are meant to be easy because the are for 8-11 year olds. Thirty-seven year olds like you really should not expect Nintendo to program their 8-11 year old games to be challenging for manchilds.

Grown adults here complaining that a game geared towards children is too easy. These kinds of games are basically trojan horses. Mario games are definitely more challenging and is geared towards fans. As much as I like the difficulty of the previous SNES -> DS titles, the series has already transitioned to cozy gameplay originated by Epic Yarn.

Fair, but give us options then. Make a default difficulty and a more skilled difficulty. Then everybody can be happy.
I love Yoshi, but the cozy gameplay for me is simply a let down, and makes me love it less each iteration.
And no I dont want to take away the cozy gameplay for little ones at all ... but Nintendo's fanbase stretches decades, offering the same experience to all ... well not-optimal in my book.
