that's in 10 years still, most likely outcome is people will just fake the date and use an older date, or a homebrew will fix it to support p to 2099 like the gamecube, idk, we have 10 years before it's an issue

I know its 10 years away, but just wondering. Clock based games like animal crossing and Wii Fit will have a bit of problems if your using a different date

Definitely a homebrew fix, I think almost all software post-Y2K have failsafes to fall back to in the event that the clock rolls over, you're just not gonna have accurate dates anymore.

Game like it's 2006! Or really any year before 2036.

Any multiplayer games that rely on the clock will probably have unofficial patches in place, either usable in emulator or even on native hardware. Any other games should do just fine if you have time set to something in the past.

There will probably be a firmware update (official or homebrew) to fix that. Without it, games will simply think you left them for 50 years.
that won't work because the server certificate will expire already in 2035 (forget exact month and day)
This means online updates and wii shop channel are official "shut down" altough nintendo could remove the check for certificate serverside.

They would just have to release the update before then.
