100% the tiicu guy on an alt
People that make alt accounts are banned, it isn't allowed on this website, for reasons that can easily be seen on this thread. Let's hope administration takes a peek and sees what's going on.

he's getting sw2 emulation on the switch this next month trust frfr nop cap on god
Just an FYI, this is the actual repo where he got the code for Yaba from: >>https://github.com/devmiyax/yabause<<. I found references to that account in the nro. For being such a great developer, he sure is shit at covering his tracks. :rofl2: I'm guessing he doesn't understand how C macros work. He removed all of the plain printf statements, but he missed all of the macro TRACE calls that call printf anyway. OMFG! You can't make this shit up! It makes it so fucking obvious. This shit is hilarious.

Let's see how this thread will react when the guy eventually get GC/PS2 running smoothly on HOS.

>be me
>actually know my shit
>do basic homework
>post facts and reality found
>facts and reality are ignored
>lol just u wait till he makes an emulator for PS3!!!!!!

It's like I'm not even a well known Switch dev or something...

i dont think most people will care where it comes from because its a benefit to the homebrew community. no one owns homebrew. no one owns 1's and 0's. patents are for corporate mongrels. AI will break down so much that the slave chains people whine about losing will be gone.

preservation and improvement is what it should be about. there are tons of inventors that have retired or died and who owns there work? the sumerians and egyptions showed off things like helicopters and submarines in what has been preserved should someone with ancestrial connection sue people and say they cant make helicopters and submarines because its been done in the past and they arent the inventors.

modern people are the worst because they dont want progress. they dont want to preserve or improve. they just want to control and whine about people who dont fall for their attempts at control.

if your so angry why not make ur own version thats better than his?

Are you shit posting? I can't even tell. So much contradictory nonsense. I'm going to leave before I get more brain damage.

Again from Saturn enthusiast point of view, whom also don’t have any programming skills… All we really want to do is play Saturn portable on switch. Believe it or not, up until Tico with Saturn support released, there was no good options, ZERO.

For those talking ethics/legality, whom also says he’s stolen/copy code, and also believe that it must not have been hard to accomplish. If y’all are so high on ethics, why not be the more ethical person and develop a full functioning, full speed Saturn emulator. If it’s that easy as you claim, then legally do what the Tico developer did and release it to the public. Right?

I’m sure that if your end product is as good or better than Saturn on Tico, majority of people will use it instead because it’s more ethical/legal. At the same time you’ll might also accomplish what you’re trying to do now, which is to stop Tico developer from continuing his program. If your program is better, then no one will use his and there won’t be the need for him to continue development.

The reality is that until there’s another option to play Saturn on switch, this is the best way possible. I’m aware about injecting games in Saturn Tribute, and that is what I’ve done in the past… but it’s cumbersome, 1X resolution, has barebone options, and also fall in the gray area legally.

Perhaps you could stop attacking this developer? He fixed the licenses. And if it's the AI that's causing you problems, well, unfortunately, it's going to continue like this for years to come.
"He fixed the license" still using open source cores without properly crediting them lmaoooo

Idk what's any worth bringing my two cents here, new account might as well be called an alt

but since I've been lurking at the tico discord for a while since it is a project i was excited about, I can't help but feel how a lot of things here are intentionally mischaracterizing and making things worse

Firstly of course, I dislike the dev's attitude. And as a supporter of open source i am on the board that the he shouldn't have released the saturn implementation publicly on github before he could release the source code. He says he intends to release it and I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt but doesn't undo that he did fuck up by not complying.

But also I don't understand why people here are pretending he's not attributing yaba sanshiro/yabause? It's right there at the repository (CREDITS.md), and it's also mentioned in the settings for the emulator on the app, so I wouldn't call it was hidden either. It sounds really stupid that people had to take a deep look at the compiled file to find that out.

There's so much I can know without the code being made available but reading the updates as the implementation was progressing it didn't seem like just compiling the code either? It went from needing overclocking and whatnot to not needing it and from having a lot of crashes and shader issues from having none (so far as I've experienced at least). So I don't get the implication that "one can just compile the source and you're gonna have an working emulator", or else we'd probably already have one by now.

Under the accusations of AI, again, there's so much one can know without seeing the source code. But about the use of it in the documents, the guy is not a native english speaker so like I don't know, probably something that would have been done better if it was an open source project and someone else would go in there and rewrite, but the complaint about it sounds a lot like grasping for straws to find reasons to bully the dev and demean his skills.

ive read this thread, but im wondering why anyone can't make the emulator like saturn yabause run on switch smoothly like this tiicu guy did. since most of you know how to code and looks like knowledgeable to do it but here you are busy fighting with each other talking about tiicu guy on what he did. this is so sad to see.

Yah really, these guy's sound like posers, seems like they just want to ignore facts and can't stand seeing something they didn't make being really successful. They have yet to prove that any law or license was violated. Tico is a truly wonderful piece of software, it really is some of the best i've seen.

Oh you care about the law. You wouldn't happen to have any illegal ROM dumps of Nintendo games that you use to emulate would you per chance? You know cus you care about the letter of the law so much?
Again, this has NOTHING to do with piracy. That's a textbook fallacy, trying to discredit an argument by attacking the person making it rather than addressing the point itself. It doesn't work here. The homebrew community isn't about piracy. If it were, this forum would already be shut down. The issue is simple: someone took a GPL-licensed emulator, ported it, and didn't publish the source. That's a license violation, full stop. It's not credit what the license means, it's the modified source code published.

Look at the license from the repo: https://github.com/devmiyax/yabause?tab=GPL-2.0-1-ov-file#readme

GPL said:
3. You may copy and distribute the Program (or a work based on it, under Section 2) in object code or executable form under the terms of Sections 1 and 2 above provided that you also do one of the following:

a) Accompany it with the complete corresponding machine-readable
source code, which must be distributed under the terms of Sections
1 and 2 above on a medium customarily used for software interchange; or,

b) Accompany it with a written offer, valid for at least three
years, to give any third party, for a charge no more than your
cost of physically performing source distribution, a complete
machine-readable copy of the corresponding source code, to be
distributed under the terms of Sections 1 and 2 above on a medium
customarily used for software interchange; or,

c) Accompany it with the information you received as to the offer
to distribute corresponding source code. (This alternative is
allowed only for noncommercial distribution and only if you
received the program in object code or executable form with such
an offer, in accord with Subsection b above.)
So if someone distributes a GPLv2 emulator binary/port for Switch without either shipping the modified source or a proper written source offer, they are not complying with Section 3 and are in violation of the license.

If the dev wanted to build an emulator from scratch, not based on any GPL code, and keep it closed source, sure, no problem. But since it's not the case, he accepted those terms when he modified the original code and distributed it. Can't just pretend they don't exist.

Keep crying "BuT pEoPlE aRe PiRaTiNg11!1!!" while forgetting that without free software like this GPL emulator, you wouldn't have Saturn emulation at all. The best ones (Yaba Sanshiro 2, Kronos (both forked from Yabause), Ymir, Mednafen) are all GPL-licensed. Forget that small thing and the entire scene you love and want on your Switch crumbles.

Also, to the mods: I think we should close any thread discussing Tico. It always devolves into silly flamewars like this, and it doesn't make sense to discuss with people dodging the actual issue. I even saw empty messages from the dev a few posts above (guessing multi-account caught in the act, and I bet these people came from the Discord where they talk about Tico). When he releases the modified source as GPLv2 requires, obviously he'll be welcomed back to discuss anything.

Hurray for censorship?

GPL violation, downloading games/music/movies you didn't pay for.
It's all in the same world of Piracy(stealing someone else's work).
