I know I'm fashionably late but @SciresM let me just add my thanks and appreciation to the ginormous mountain of thanks you already received. You and Atmosphere shaped my Switch experience so much for the better, I can't even express it in words. The freedom and flexibility that Atmosphere and homebrew brought to the platform is honestly how it should be, and we all have you and the other devs to thank for that. Of course N, Sony and the rest don't see it that way, but f*** them.

As soon as I learned you were retiring, I updated my FW to 21.2.0 and will update my Atmosphere / Hekate / etc. to the latest, and that's it. No more. When I finish the last game I'm on, I can say my Switch journey will be at its end.

You, sir, are truly the GOAT and I salute you.

Thank you for your amazing work boss, hope you have a wonderful future with your family and children.
And seeing how dedicated to your work with atmosphere, constantly keeping check, you without a doubt will be a doting father to your children in the foreseeable future:yayswitch:

Thanks so, so much for everything you've done to elevate the Switch-experience to heights never bothered or plain unheard of for Nintendo, and keeping it accessible for us this way so long. May you enjoy long and blessed life with your wife and children!!!

Yeah, it's real. It's been an honor and a privilege to work so hard for the community all these years.

Really appreciate that the response has been understanding and positive so far ^^
Godspeed Michael.

Your work on Atmosphere has totally transformed gaming sessions with my family. 5 player games have become instantly feasible without having to take out a second mortgage to fund it. Thank you so much for your dedication over the last 8 years.

If the effort you put into the switch scene is any indication of what is to come, I have no doubt you'll make an excellent father when the time is right.

Until we meet again :grog:

This must be my signal to go ahead and update my Switch to the latest Atmosphere, since it may be the last. I'm always worried I'm going to mess something up and brick my Switch, but considering I haven't really turned it on since I got my Steam Deck in April, might as well go for it.

So the Switch scene gets smashed down roughly 1-2 years before the end of the console's life. We were so close to reaching a satisfactory end of cycle.

Let's just hope someone takes the project before we get another major, system-breaking update. And with a lot of luck, will also be able to/want to polish the rough edges

Thanks, Michael. You made this scene possible. We salute you as you ride towards the sunset.

So this marks the last June 15th? 😂

All the best in forming a family and thank you for your dedication to the scene. You are one of the big ones

It's sad to see you go. But I wish you the best retirement you can get. Enjoy the time with your family!

If I can ask... Did you plan anything for the continuation of PkHeX or your other projects? Like having someone else take over officially?

A big thank you to the legend.

On a note, I like how one commentor in his farewell git msg is asking him to essentially support the switch 2. Work which would require him to spend another lifetime to make (if even possible) and support despite him already saying that he is retiring....:whip:

Thanks for everything you will be missed. I wish joy and happiness for you and your family.

Thank you for the hundreds upon hundreds of hours of entertainment and enjoyment that you have selflessly given to me and my family. The scene will never know your equal.

Respect @SciresM. Thanks for all of the fantastic work you have done.

I do wonder though, what does that mean for Atmosphere's future?
