Whats your OS?

I use all three for one reason or another.

I am honestly shocked people are still using Windows. I run SteamOS, Linux Mint, and Fedora

Until Linux supports everything I want/need, I have to use Windows.

As for the mass market, I suspect most of them don't even know what Linux is, Windows is the thing that comes with their machines and I question if many of them would even be able to get through the installer without messing up/getting stuck.

wine somehow permanently bricked .net 6.0-8.0 for me even with prefix resets, and a tool i need to do most of my current work is .net and windows only with no alternatives, so i need to use windows for that tool

I'm unsure on why Windows and Linux are a draw. There's quite a few people in here who use dual-boot setups.

Because It's possible to pick more than one option. If people want they can pick, windows, macOS or Linux if that is what they use.

... What kind of thing says unironically that it needs windows millennium?

Reading and writing to PCMCIA Linear Flash cards that needs a 12v VPP using Elan Memory Card Explorer and this ISA card interface (SCM Swapbox):

Actually, it works in Windows 95 and 98 too, but Windows ME has USB mass storage support.

On anything NT-based (like 2000, XP) there's some I/O conflict preventing Memory Card Explorer to use this interface.

I remember a job interview with a headhunter where she asked me what Linux was.
Me: an operating system
She: what?
Me: you know... Like windows
She: oh, okay :)

The scary part is that she actually got me the job... In ict. I often feel like jobs are gated through a layer of people who have no clue about anything about the job itself.

Completely unrelated, my biggest fear is people thinking I work in IT. I'm a asian man with glasses which is among the most stereotypical appearances of IT works here in Blighty.

I had one guy go to my desk and ask me for access to a network drive. He assumed I was IT because I helped the Executive Assistants with their stuff.

A year or so ago, I had someone go to me desk abd ask me to set up the internet on their laptop for no disernable reason.

All of the above.

PC still runs Windows 10, even if it nags me about Windows 11 passing the compatibility check.

Mini PC's are running Linux distros, the more powerful one I have runs SteamOS, I have an Intel N97 mini PC running different distros, I treat it as a Raspberry Pi thanks to its built in MicroSD slot. I also have a 3rd gen Ryzen 5 mini PC that I use for my StepMania home setup.

Steam Deck is obvious on which distro is on there.

MacBook Pro from 2015 that runs Sequoia thanks to OCLP.

Can you only state which version of windows you're using? Which Linux distro you run. If you're using an older MacOS, why so?
Linux
My primary operating system.

Code:
System:
  Kernel: 6.6.11-amd64 [6.6.11-1~mx23ahs] arch: x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 12.2.0
    parameters: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-6.6.11-amd64 root=UUID=<filter> ro
  Desktop: Xfce v: 4.18.1 tk: Gtk v: 3.24.36 info: xfce4-panel wm: xfwm v: 4.18.0 vt: 7
    dm: LightDM v: 1.26.0 Distro: MX-23.2_ahs_x64 Libretto October 15 2023 base: Debian GNU/Linux
    12 (bookworm)

Apple Mac
I have some discarded older (ancient) Macbooks too. Those earlier MacOS X units before Siri spyware and other undesirables that we see now. I notice their headphone outputs are more powerful than the Windows laptops I have tried, driving higher-impedance headphones louder. Useful to me. A modern web browser and other things can be done to have them running in 2026 without pulling your hair out. But really aside from being able to run some older software (which can be useful), these units are rarely used.

Windows
I typically do not go online using Windows these days. The last time I did this I was when installing OpenVINO for Audacity, under Windows 10. The installer is one of those annoying installers requiring internet. https://www.audacityteam.org/download/openvino/

I use some different OS in my machines, in my laptop (where I spend most of the time and manage everything from there) I use a private fork I made of Kubuntu Focus (not a big deal, just makes everything more comfortable to me the way I want it), but on my servers I use Debian, Ubuntu (cause AMD drivers doesn't officially support Debian and I need them for my GPUs) and openSUSE.

I also use more Debian based OS for different things, as Kali on my laptop with Kubuntu (dual boot), Raspberry Pi OS Lite and AntiX for a really old laptop that I got from the trash and restored to manage my servers locally with a UI, but it barely gets any use as I already do that over WAN in my main laptop...

And guess I also use Windows! I am forced to have Windows Server 2016 VMs for my classes, but I hate it, not only cause only it is a disgusting OS, but my teacher is a complete incompetent and seems to completely hate me for using Linux and other stuff, so he takes advantage that I have no one here and his enormous power in this centre to kinda bully me... So, yeah, all this just makes me hate the Windows environment even more...

Does anyone use Hackintosh? I've always been curious about that.

The main computer here just uses Windows 10 LTSC, it's mainly used for internet browsing and printing.
