Meet Xfer: Your Easy-Button for Xbox File Transfers

Download
Tired of struggling to move files to your Xbox when you're in Developer Mode? Meet Xfer—a super simple, direct tool that takes the pain out of moving files between your Windows PC and your Xbox.

What is Xfer, Really?

Think of Xfer as your personal, local file bridge built specifically for developers, modders, and testers.
It’s just two pieces working together:

  • A tiny Xfer.Server app you run on your Xbox. (Not Included Make Your Own)
  • The main Xfer program on your PC. (Included)
They link up over your local network, creating a fast, secure connection for file transfers. Best of all? No cloud, no middleman, and no internet required for the transfer itself. It’s all between your PC and your Xbox.

How You Use It

Getting started is a breeze:

  1. Deploy the small Xfer.Server app to your Xbox (you'll just do this once).
  2. Open the Xfer app on your PC.
  3. Enter your Xbox's local IP address and hit Connect.
Poof! You now have full control to upload, download, or delete files inside your app's sandbox. Because it all stays on your Local Area Network (LAN), it’s lightning-fast, and completely secure.

Why It's Way Better Than Old FTP

If you've been around the block, you might remember using FTP—but those days are over (and good riddance!).

Xfer uses Microsoft's approved HTTP networking method within the sandbox. It's like having a "Dev Portal Lite" that focuses only on file management, making your workflow smoother and safer.

Key Features You'll Love

  • Drag-and-Drop: Easily upload files just by dragging them into the window.
  • Always Ready: Features auto-reconnect to keep your flow going.
  • Scripting Friendly: Includes a simple JSON API backend for advanced users who want to script their file transfers.
  • Clean Look: A simple, modern Windows UI that gets out of your way.
Important Note: Xfer is designed to work inside your UWP app's sandbox. It is not a system file explorer, which means it's 100% compliant with Dev Mode rules and will not risk violating Microsoft's policies.
Xfer exists because transferring files became a huge headache after Microsoft patched older methods like FTP. We're bringing back a fast, reliable, and developer-approved way to move your files—no workarounds, no exploits.

" ...after Microsoft patched older methods like FTP.".

This is misleading. Not only you have DurangoFTP uwp app but you can use SFTP with Filezila ( for example) or the file browser in the dev mode console (https your xbox ip, etc...) .
