Palworld is getting a farming sim spinoff game called Palfarm

One of the announcements at Tokyo Games Show 2025 was that Palworld is getting a spinoff. Titled Palworld: Palfarm, it's a farming sim styled game, where you'll be tasked with developing a thriving farm, with the help of Pals. You'll be able to talk to them and give them gifts, and according to the store page, it's "even possible for your bond with a Pal or resident to grow into a special relationship." There will also be an online co-op mode. No release date has been given, though it is confirmed to be headed to PC through Steam.

@Chary You forgot their second announcement of the day : A collaboration with ULTRAKILL!

Pocketpair really needs to start finishing their projects....

I really like Craftopia, their original game, but they keep adding, removing and then adding stuff again, it's been 5 years. Then they jumped to Palworld which became their money maker and now they're milking the Palworld series as much as they can.

Either way, I will probably get this spin off. I love farmsims.

In a way, Nintendo's litigation is like free advertising. It actually helps legitimise the series in a way it never really earned. It's turning into a real Pokemon clone franchise instead of just a cheeky game. If a Pal becomes so iconic that the average gamer can name it, Nintendo won't be happy. And if Pal games start becoming objectively better in every way than Pokemon games, which isn't hard because Gamefreak have been pumping out stinkers for a while, then every new Pal game is like a middle finger to Nintendo.

So, after dealing with litigation for being too similar to Pokemon, they're going to bring on the ire of Nintendo lawyers another way - by being too similar to Animal Crossing. 🤣
Animal Crossing didn't invent cozy games. And isn't a farming sim either.
What is it with people comparing everything to it recently? First Pokopia gets compared to it while it's clearly a DQBuilders Spin-Off, now this lol

The developers are asking for really serious trouble now, I see.
Still waiting for a Pokemon game remotely like this.

This whole situation with the lawsuit originates from terminally stupid Nintendo fanboys harassing The Pokemon Company and Nintendo on social media about the existence of a game that ultimately was much close than Ark than it was to Pokemon, in the first place.

Nintendo didn't invent creature collectors btw. And that's very much all that this new game falls into in the comparison with Pokemon.
If you're curious, notably Megami Tensei did it before. And supposedly some games even before that.

Gamefreak really needed competition. We lost a lot over the years. In the past, we had Medabots, Robopon, Keitai Telefang, Monster Rancher, etc.. It was a great era of monster collecting games.

Pokopia gets compared to Animal Crossing because they're both Nintendo.
Dragon Quest Builders isn't a cozy game, it has survival aspects. I don't see any of that in Pokopia.

The timing for this reveal is suspiciously close to Pokopia. Nintendo aren't gonna be happy. Screw them, there's nothing they can do. They don't own farming sims.

Not a fan of what Nintendo is doing with their patents, as well as not being a fan of their overall issues towards this game's existence, but I can't believe they're actually extending the palworld brand off like this. I remember this April Fools they're actually working on the dating sim that was shown to have a release of some kind: did they ever get to finish that? Now they have their own farming sim, collared with two games, and their game, at least to me, is uninteresting.

Reasons I'm calling it a DQBuilders spin-off is because:
- Koei Tecmo are the developers. They made DQBuilders.
- It very likely run the same engine. The visuals alone have the DQBuilders vibe (Although with a cute Pokemon twist, I'll admit I'm fond of the aesthetic.)
- Mechanics from DQBuilders get shown in the trailer, notably the "Idea" mechanic, where Ditto learns skill, is presented in a way very similar to how the player character learns recipes in DQBuilders. You can also see how when grass is added, the whole patch gets a little visual effect, likely indicating a system similar to the structure recognition in DQBuilders.

The trailer showed farming so I suppose at least the hunger system might exist in Pokopia.

Not sure about combat and the deep village building mechanics though, as buildings are pre-built in this.
So, overall, Pokopia is a "DQBuilders-Lite".

Thanks, saw it and wasn't entire sure so I mentioned the better known one. That's a nice bit of trivia.
Looking into it more, it's pretty cool to see it used a dialogue system for recruiting akin to Megami Tensei, back in '85.
