Roblox threatens to sue user that was catching predators through their game

Roblox is certainly one of the most played videogames nowdays, more so by teens and minors that just want to go around with friends or people online and play random events. However, due to the nature of the game and the demographic it's aimed towards, it has become a target for predators online.

There has been many cases of adults harassing minors by using Roblox as the medium, and it was due to this, that one X user in particular by the name of Schlep took it upon himself to make it his livelihood to stop these awful people and behaviours from occurring on a children's game, and to thwart and stop their illegal activities by hunting down and catching predators on his own, all of this of course, with the police and proper authorities support, with Schlep managing to bring to justice, complete with arrests, 6 predators up to this day according to his X profile bio.

Due to Schlep's actions to hunt down predators, Roblox took notice, sending a Cease & Desist letter to Schlep, alongside banning all of his accounts, terminating them entirely on August 9th, 2025:

A Cease & Desists letter (C&D) is issued as a warning to a user, with the company usually demanding the user at hand to halt and stop all activities detailed in the letter. Failure to comply with the C&D letter can end up in the user receiving a lawsuit directly from the company.

Schlep let his followers know about the C&D letter he got from Roblox, and the posts was quickly gaining attention, with many users online dropping
Things After the C&D issue with Schlep was becoming more widespread, Roblox themselves released a statement through their social media accounts, explaining their decision to remove "vigilantes" from Roblox.

The statement goes into detail about how to report users that could be seen as dangerous or engaging in dubious activities, but that's far from the issue, as the explanation for banning "vigilantes", as Roblox deems them, is that they usually impersonate other people (sometimes even minors) in order to lead plausible predators in an engagement of sexually explicit conversations, which goes against Roblox's Terms of Service.

However, the issue escalated even further, with government officials now taking notice of the whole situation. A few hours ago, US Congressman Ro Khanna issued a video statement saying that Roblox is not doing enough to protect children from online creators in their game. Ro Khanna is creating a petition to push Roblox to do more for their minor userbase and protect people using their game, with the petition's goal set to 1 million signature to sign up to this Friday:

Schlep has been in contact with Congressman Ro Khanna, and Schlep, alongside user KreekCraft, have shared information and resources they have, with instances of failed policy's on Roblox end, according to KreekCraft.

The situation with Roblox and their issues with predators in their game is a growing issue day by day, and with the current state of affairs with Schlep and Ro Khanna, we can only hope that this will force Roblox to do more to properly address these illegal activities towards children happening within their own servers.

So can anyone explain to me how do people become “predator” on roblox? Is it only through good ol private message or is there specific activies in the game that counts as predator?

Man this just exemplifies why I hate modern Roblox so much. As someone that has been playing Roblox since 2010, watching it slowly become a piece of crap has irritated me so much. I remember leaving for a period of a few years, and returning to play with my younger brother and seeing how much it had gone downhill. Some time ago I reported a player exploiting a kids bluey game for doing very NSFW things, and got a 2 day ban for "false reporting". Things like that are why people like this user have to go around and stop people for the moderators.

Oh and another thing, like 4 years ago I got an email saying a game I uploaded in 2011 infringed copyright for being called "Nintendo Tycoon". It wasn't even playable. It was also a free model I lazily uploaded as my own game. They care more about money than actually moderating anything.

I remember my friend telling me how bad roblox is with pedophilia and just grimey stuff in general, i have not touched this game since i was a kid in the early years but I've always felt something was off with the amount of adults that play it nowadays
the amount of skin crawling stuff I've heard about it is really telling

To catch a predator already had correct departments lined in the back watching the sting go down. That's how they got caught efficient. You don't just bring guys you know to these things and hope everything goes smooth. Some departments may even agree to let you do the interview but calling them after the fact is just plain ignorant.
Yup, the problem is these people don't have the swing for any of that kind of stuff and they cut any corner they can to get a video that copies the Chris Hanson style. The big difference is that the copycats almost always stage the ambush of these guys at public places with innocent bystanders around, instead of a house loaded with cops and multiple cameras.

Unpopular opinion : Roblox had to ban and even sue this youtuber. It is Roblox's job to ensure the privacy of ALL their customer
Another unpopular opinion : it is not youtuber's job to investigate on pedophiles. It is the job of police forces and only them.
Now, and I think this opinion will be a popular one : it is really a shame to see some online randos do a better job than those who are paid by taxpayers. There should be some programs where police forces could receive help from the public (as of now, you cannot hand actual evidence to them, since they coud be tempered and would not be accepted in court)

I agree with the UP, and add that Roblox needs to step up its vigilance against predators.

i keep saying let undocumented alien immigrant hunt them on the internet. The project should be called Alien Vs Predator.

I guess that explains why Roblox refuses to do anything about the Crosswoods games that trigger false bans for "child exploitation".

Roblox business is literally exploiting children, it needs to stop existing.

Why not a save the children campaign so Mastercard, Visa and others stop working with Roblox?
Because payment processors are too busy working with anti-LGBTQ+ activists. Protecting the children has always been an excuse, one they never actually acted upon.
