Roblox threatens to sue user that was catching predators through their game

Roblox is certainly one of the most played videogames nowdays, more so by teens and minors that just want to go around with friends or people online and play random events. However, due to the nature of the game and the demographic it's aimed towards, it has become a target for predators online.

There has been many cases of adults harassing minors by using Roblox as the medium, and it was due to this, that one X user in particular by the name of Schlep took it upon himself to make it his livelihood to stop these awful people and behaviours from occurring on a children's game, and to thwart and stop their illegal activities by hunting down and catching predators on his own, all of this of course, with the police and proper authorities support, with Schlep managing to bring to justice, complete with arrests, 6 predators up to this day according to his X profile bio.

Due to Schlep's actions to hunt down predators, Roblox took notice, sending a Cease & Desist letter to Schlep, alongside banning all of his accounts, terminating them entirely on August 9th, 2025:

A Cease & Desists letter (C&D) is issued as a warning to a user, with the company usually demanding the user at hand to halt and stop all activities detailed in the letter. Failure to comply with the C&D letter can end up in the user receiving a lawsuit directly from the company.

Schlep let his followers know about the C&D letter he got from Roblox, and the posts was quickly gaining attention, with many users online dropping
Things After the C&D issue with Schlep was becoming more widespread, Roblox themselves released a statement through their social media accounts, explaining their decision to remove "vigilantes" from Roblox.

The statement goes into detail about how to report users that could be seen as dangerous or engaging in dubious activities, but that's far from the issue, as the explanation for banning "vigilantes", as Roblox deems them, is that they usually impersonate other people (sometimes even minors) in order to lead plausible predators in an engagement of sexually explicit conversations, which goes against Roblox's Terms of Service.

However, the issue escalated even further, with government officials now taking notice of the whole situation. A few hours ago, US Congressman Ro Khanna issued a video statement saying that Roblox is not doing enough to protect children from online creators in their game. Ro Khanna is creating a petition to push Roblox to do more for their minor userbase and protect people using their game, with the petition's goal set to 1 million signature to sign up to this Friday:

Schlep has been in contact with Congressman Ro Khanna, and Schlep, alongside user KreekCraft, have shared information and resources they have, with instances of failed policy's on Roblox end, according to KreekCraft.

The situation with Roblox and their issues with predators in their game is a growing issue day by day, and with the current state of affairs with Schlep and Ro Khanna, we can only hope that this will force Roblox to do more to properly address these illegal activities towards children happening within their own servers.

Oh thank goodness someone managed to explain this in a concise way that I can understand! Someone on Bluesky sent me a video about this situation, but even then, I still didn't really understand what was happening. Keep it up, @ShadowOne333!

Maybe they should also improve their authentication system, too while they're at it.

Hopefully this backfires and ends up getting the whole corporation shut down. Roblox is a predator's paradise.
Tbh even if it wasn't I hope it gets shutdown.
Their entire business model is riding off of the creativity of its users while milking their parents' credit cards with micro-transactions.

They've made a platform that is predatory in two different and both awful ways.

I don't think any company would want vigilantes. I don't think anyone want them in anything, by definition ... because they wouldn't be needed if the issues were addressed

What's crazy is how they're acting on that whole issue, not even trying the slightest bit to work on that huge problem, and yet they somehow consider having an "adults-only dating scene" on the same platform ????? They can't be serious, it's really hard for me to think they're just idiots and not simply evil exploiting children

they claim the vigilantes are hypocrites for doing some of the same things the preds do, but I'd argue they're FIGHTING FIRE WITH FIRE

I mean the entire mobile market is kinda based around kid milking their parents' credit cards.

Bring back actual safe spaces for children to play and have fun. When I was a kid, we had Webkinz and club penguin. Webkinz had an admission fee for the site, but at least you got a stuffie out of it. I think there was a subscription too but I had plenty of fun on the free to play version. Club Penguin also had a subscription but again, there was plenty for a kid to do for absolutely free.

These places were highly moderated and always felt safe.

Something like Roblox cannot be moderated. When the experiences are user defined and not specifically curated for child safety, it will become a cesspit for pedophiles. It's the difference between taking either your child to a daycare or taking them to a shopping mall and letting them be on their own.

There are ways to secure games like this its just clearly none of the people behind it want to. There... have also been a multitude of team members who are assumed pedos so.... that might be part of it.
