What's the safe CPU & RSC temparature for the PS3 Slim?

In the XMB I get up to 71°C somehow. Is it time for a thermal replacement?
depends, have you changed the fan speed settings? If it's in sys auto mode that maybe why, since now there's more heat obv you have to change it to manual and increase the fan speed abit wherever you see fit. obv don't go over 65-70% or you might risk wearing the fan out.
basically it should be somewhere in the 60's (140F) when idle, even in gameplay it shouldn't reach 70°C (158F) playing any game (and this goes for both cpu & rsx)

some things to consider, is changing the location of the ps3 if it's in a hot room or cabinet where it doesn't get much air flow. also you should clean it if you haven't already, if the fan is dirty that could lead to overheating. and change the paste while you're at it as well.
