I've had good luck and bad. I played through Omega Boost, Vagrant Story, both Megaman Legends games and all 3 Ace Combat games with fantastic performance. And then of course all the 2d Megamans run without a hitch and I recently did a run of the first Rayman too.
But then R-type Delta, Einhander, Tomba! and Valkyrie Profile were like my white whales and I couldn't get them to run no matter what.
Curiously back when I did everything through .cia forwarders I got some better performance than I can now with Retroarch proper. Back when hshop hosted cia injects some one got Ridge Racer 4 to run about perfect but I've never been able to replicate it myself despite the old forwarder maker being based off a severly outdated version of RA. Funny that.
I haven't tried some of the bigger games like the FFs or Metal Gear but I believe I've heard of some people getting the latter to run acceptably.
But yeah as others have said there are certainly better platforms for it.
