does anyone know of anything homebrew that restores near?

Dont think there is or will be. Would require someone to keep a server running all the time to sync everything as before it would run though sony servers as i dont think you directly pulled data from someone it was all just synced to a server and pushed out when you asked for new data
I could be wrong though and maybe someone is working on it but its unlikely since i dont think that many people used it even when it was live
I think part of the issue was it used location data to actually look "near" for people within something like 10miles so would require a fair amount of work to decompile and actually rewrite with hacks to spoof location
