I converted a Wii Homebrew Forwarder Wad to a vwii WAD using Convert2vwii, but when i load the WAD, it just shows a black screen.

As in the title, my vwii just shows a blackscreen when i try to load a converted Homebrew forwarder WAD from Convert2vwii. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? The WAD i´m using is the "The Reese Channel", for anyone who wants to know it...
Thanks :)

Just to clarify, do you get a black screen while you're on the Wii Menu, or only after pressing start on the forwarder? The former would suggest a banner issue, while the latter would suggest an issue with the forwarder itself.

Does the app launch from the hbc? Have u tried launching the forwarder dol from the hbc, or confirmed it works for others on the wii (it may not be a vWii specific issue)

If it's a forwarder that otherwise works in wii, my next modmii update will have nandloader updating options superior to convert2vwii. My beta version should be able to handle it currently if you want to test

Hey, I got the WAD from the Internet and many people said that it works. Back then when I had the "original" Wii I also had the same Channel/WAD installed and it worked normally. Just on the vWii it doesent work - even after converting it with "Convert2vWii"

When I press Start on the Forwarder in the Wii menu, it just gives me a black screen. Then I have to turn off my WIi U and do the same again.

I also tried it with other Homebrew Channel Forwarder WADS, and they dont give me a black screen, but they wont load the Homebrew Channel either and just put me back to the Wii menu...

I'm not super versed with these sorts of things, but not being able to launch even the base HBC using any forwarder suggests to me a system issue of some sort (or possibly a bad SD card).

If you can, I would suggest dumping a syscheck and running it through ModMii just to see if anything's obviously wrong.

I can run the base HBC, just not by those forwarders made for them. I can run the normal blue hbc channel just not those custom ones from the internet

Got it. In that case, if you're just looking for a solution, you could always just extract the DOL from the HBC WAD (available via ModMii) and write that over the custom forwarder's DOL using CustomizeMii. That way you would know that your DOL is good.

Alternatively, you could:
  1. Grab the HBC WAD via ModMii
  2. Use CustomizeMii to extract the sound, images, brlyt, and brlan from the custom forwarder that you downloaded
  3. Add those to the HBC WAD and install
...but that's effectively just more work to accomplish the same thing.

Obviously make sure you have a backup before doing any installs, but everything you'd be changing would be effectively cosmetic.

Odd. If the DOL is identical, the only things standing between the Wii Menu and the HBC would be the startup IOS and/or any changes needed to make it work on a vWii.

If you don't mind taking another look at the new WAD with the swapped DOL, verify that its startup IOS is correct using CustomizeMii's Options tab. The Open HBC WAD uses 58, so the DOL *should* load under that.

Tools like customize don't properly handle wads that have the main dol and nandloader integrated into a single content file, like the hbc. In fact I don't think it handles it properly even when the nandloader is not integrated but in an unconventional location (either 0000002.app or 00000001.app I don't recall off the top of my head). This is why it's best to start from the hbc as a base and update its banner and stuff instead of the other way around.

Maybe it was made using a different Nandloader?
Maybe try using WiiForwarder2vWii?

I tried it with this Tool, but it also just gives me a blackscreen...

So is there no way to convert my forwarder WAD to vwii? To be honest, I don't know much about creating forwarders, so I wanted to get custom ones from the internet.
