So i've tried both just having just the update file, and have also tried with game dumps from the dumper. Down below are pictures of the SD card during both scenarios along with a picture of the files inside the xci folders from the dumper. In both scenarios when inserted into the switch the led is red for 2 seconds then turns off and switch displays a cartridge can't be read error, and when I tried to update the firmware with the dumper the led stays red and doesn't seem to do anything.

realize I forgot to make my response a proper reply. sorry new to forums as a whole.
In the second image with the blacked out folder titles - what is being blacked out the name of the game or the specific rom id shown when dumping a game?

Im using a C to USB A cable that came with my elgato
Changed to a reliable c-a and still got the same thing. md5 comparisons come back valid on the files that are copied, it just craps out around the .bin files. But i'm able to copy those over separately easily as well. Honestly might try 1.1.4 and see if the issues go away haha.

EDIT: now 1.1.4 is finicky too. 1.1.5 is more reliable at reconnecting after the error out. just am stuck copying one file at a time for best reliability.

If you convert and XCI file to NSP, is it possible to play a digital game using MIG?
MIG Switch and alike does not allow you to run anything but full (or incomplete but with donor certs) XCI dump(s) and that's pretty much it. No homebrew apps, no exploits, no digital games - nothing. It's primary purpose is to allow you to play your own game backups on a single cart. It's a "decent" flashcart for a banned console, though, provided you have another unpatched Switch that you can use for updating your games on the banned console by matching the game versions between consoles connected via LAN.
