Been using Vista for a year now on my laptop. At first I hated it so I formatted it and put XP on it... which seemed to make the laptop slower than normal and since the laptop only had drivers for Vista, I decided to bite the bullet and reinstalled Vista. After a few tweaks, I really don't mind it now. Granted XP still has a long life left but I can't call Vista the worst OS ever.

Vista is better than Windows XP if your computer is powerful enough to handle it. I've been running it since it was in beta and have very few problems other than an occasional driver problem. I suspect most of the driver problems are the fault of the software/hardware manufacturers who never developed them properly. People hanging on to XP reminds me of when microsoft upgraded from DOS to windows and people insisted on staying with DOS or when they invented indoor plumbing but people still enjoyed the cool breeze while they took care of their business.

Give Vista a shot. It's pluses outweigh it's minuses. Don't listen to viral whining.

Many companies don't have drivers for XP laptop components any more (because the only model that use those parts are sold with Vista)
Ah.

Well if thats the case, here's a 9 month old list of tweaks:

that thread just says the guide was moved to gbatemp >.>;
Oh. Thats because bossmanuk deleted a thread about restoring my usertitle of "GBAtemp.net", so I deleted all the guides I had written for the site.

If people care, I can update the tags and actually repost here.

I just bought a new comp today with Vista. First thing I did was run windows update and let it install SP1. It runs, dare I say, better than XP now.

edit: there are a couple things that take getting used to. Like the start>programs menu is now more like a folder. You can switch that back to classic if you want to though.

I personally love Vista.

I've got Vista Home Premium on my Laptop (1.66 ghz dual core with 2gb ram) and it runs great, you just have to maintain your system (actually, I have to maintain this laptop less than I do my desktop that's running XP).

My next new computer will have Vista in it, and I will use it and not complain. *much*
My current computer has components that I couldn't get drivers for when I tried installing Vista, so I put XP back on it, and everything works perfect.

No one really answered the question that started this thread, so here it is:

You got it on the new computer, it works fine, don't replace it.

Can someone tell me a legitimate reason to upgrade to Vista? As far as I have seen, there is no reason to. It's not like there are any killer apps that require Vista. (No...Halo 2 isn't one...try again

I use Vista Ultimate.
Upgraded from XP Professional cause it wasn't genuine.
My Vista now isn't genuine either, but it's being treated as is. ;D
