I was looking for a similar solution, idk which will be easier for you, but i had a raspberry pi zero laying around and used the "system information" item of the recovery menu used by UDPIH. Voultar explains UDPIH here:

this was easier and less risky for me. sadly, my son's Wii U has the hynix eMMC.

Do you have the rpx file ready?

Yes. Put the rpx file in wiiu/apps on the sd card. Boot up the console and launch miimake for the hbl, select mdinfo and rejoice or despair at the result.

No. You can easily get the rpx or wubl file from here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-i-fixed-160-0103-system-memory-error.626448/page-10

Just scroll down a bit. Then follow the above steps.
Tried that but when I launch mdinfo it says failed to initialize mocha so I assumed I had to run mocha as the boot payload or something

Yeah, that's how you update Tiramisu. Also congrats on not sitting on a time bomb for now, unlike yours truly.

I am a bit disappointed to learn I have a Hynix eMMC. However, I am also absolutely one of the people that should be given this kind of responsibility in keeping a Wii U alive by just playing it from time to time. Perhaps one day my Wii U will brick in some way or another, but it should never be due to this fault where the NAND goes faulty from not being turned on and utilized often enough, not with how frequently I've utilized it over the years and continue to do so.

Got two Toshiba nand emmc (one black retail and the other a white kiosk unit) and a second black retail Samsung emmc . Watching the Wii U dead emmc list page, It seems hynix manufacturer leads the numbers (24 dead consoles) and Samsung just count 2. Guess its time to use more often the second black Wii U.
Thanks Gary for the mdinfo app.

I attached the mdinfo version, which gives the date.

@zerofalcon your dates are: May 2012, June 2013, December 2012. But it doesn't really matter as they are not Hynix

Did you experience any errors with these consoles or are they all working fine?

Thank you for the dates and the binaries!
Memory issues none, fortunately, the only issue I got with one of the retail consoles (toshiba emmc) is that no longer outputs video through HDMI (component and composite output works). I read its something about some filters that need to be changed.

Which manufacture date range are more prone to the nand problem?

We suspect that Hynix eMMCs from 2012 and early 2013 are prone to this problem. But I also know of 2012 Hynix eMMCs that didn't fail (yet).

I personally handled a call from the second highest person at Raytheon. That call bothered me a lot... The guy was nice and smart what bothered me was the way management basically just blew him off instead of going the extra mile to help him.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
In the end that call ended up costing Dell millions in lost contracts with Raytheon, and really the issue could have been solved for like 450 bucks lol
