I just transitioned from SXOS to Atmosphere by formatting my SD card and following the rentry guide on setting up atmosphere emunand on unpatched switches. Everything works well, I updated the FW to 15.0.1, I'm using Atmosphere 1.4 and Hekate 6.0.1, and enabled autorcm. The only problem I can't resolve is that I can't figure out how to use my SXOS dongle to boot into hekate. I can inject the payload via my pc/TegraRCMGUI just fine but not using the dongle.

On the root of my SDcard I renamed the hekate payload to "payload.bin" and extracted the "boot" and "boot.dat" files from SX_Gear_v1.1.zip, however when I boot my switch it won't load hekate - the screen will stay black until I plug it into my pc and inject the hekate payload via TegraRCMGUI.

Any ideas? This is starting to drive my crazy lol

It's honestly just much easier to boot from a PC or an Android device. I have a dongle and completely stopped using it when I switched to Atmosphere, just because it's a lot easier and more reliable.

Is this https://sx-boot-dat-creator.herokuapp.com/ not working or am I using it wrong? When I click on the link I get the following message:

Application error

An error occurred in the application and your page could not be served. If you are the application owner, check your logs for details. You can do this from the Heroku CLI with the command
heroku logs --tail
It's dead
You can try this:

You don't have "hide known file extensions" ticked in Windows do you? As you mention "boot.dat", but only boot for the the other file rather than "boot.ini". .ini is know to Windows so would get hidden if the option is on, .dat on the other hand, does not.

If you're hiding known file extensions, I wonder if your renamed payload.bin is actually "payload.bin.bin" as Windows is hiding the actual extension. The boot.ini points at "payload.bin", so if known file extensions are hidden and it's hiding the extension (.bin is not an uncommon extension, and can easily be associated with something else and Windows will hide it as known extension), that would explain why it does nothing.

Other than that, I got nothing.

It should work, that's how I boot mine. SXOS dongle, SX gear boot dat and boot.ini on root, hekate renamed payload.bin and it boots it fine. Also worked fine when I was using fusee.bin (renamed to payload.bin) to boot directly.

I have the same problem, using sx gear... black screen.
Don't know how to convert this damn boot.dat for this crappy dead sxos dongle.
The webarchive for the website converter doesn't work.

UPDATE:
Using this SX Gear I've resolved the black screen issue, OP try this!

https://rentry.org/mys8q

  1. Backup/move boot.dat elsewhere (we are going to overwrite it)
  2. Download SX_Gear_v1.1.zip and unzip it to the root of your sdcard
  3. Copy hekate_ctcaer_x.x.x.bin to /payload.bin
  4. Boot like normal

I'm just now trying to also migrate from SXOS to Atmosphere using the Rentry guide. I'm currently on FW 10.2.0 on SXOS. My question is do I need to update the CFW before I migrate to the newest version of atmosphere or can i update it after i migrate?

You can dual emunand if you want to keep SX OS around, if not you are free to move to Atmosphere and then update.

Definitely do the CFW first!

Make sure when you do get to the firmware bit you use Daybreak and not Choi to avoid bricking your Boot partition.

Okay thanks, up to this point I've been using Choix...how do I come back from that?
Don’t fret unless you run into it. There’s a blurb and a link in the reentry guide if you do run into issues. Best thing you can do right now is backup everything. Just in case…
