I Just ordered the Ez flash V and ez 3 in 1 expansion pack(lite version) from Deal extreme. Now the problem im going to have is I only have a phat ds, If I cut off the end of the expansion pack will it fit into the phat ds and work without problems

Thanks

If you cut the little tab off, it's likely that you'll be able to jam it in and get it to work, but highly unlikely you'll ever get it back out again.

A better idea might be to get a old GBA cartridge (or a crappy one out of the bargain bin) and transplant the gizzards with a tri-wing and a bit of cutting.

I've always thought of that. What I think is...
Cut the edge,
also cut your DS slot-2 a little bit and it should work fine

make the cut look decent.

They also sell them in gba cart version for phat

thanks for the replys guys. I only got the lite version because deal extreme was selling the ez flash 5 and ez 3 in 1 expansion together for cheap and plus Im getting a ds lite soon so i didn't want to get the phat version but i wanted to play around with it before i got my lite :'(

well wait for the dsl then...

if you cut the tab u cant remove it from the phat ds

and thats bad

You know that for a fact or is this just speculation? Cuz... Lord knows I'dd sacrifice one of my GBA games to play any GBA game I choose, at the time of my choosing.

Im in the same situation as OP but I won't be getting a DSL till my 6 mo. anniversary (I quit smoking beginning of june, rewards help (( Its how I got my R4!

))) But I WILL be getting one... Till then tho... SOL... but this tinkering with a previous GBA game sounds promising... lemme know plz!

this maybe a silly suggestion but why not utilizse the slot 2 cartridge that comes with the ds itself? just put the innards in there instead of ruining another card.
there isn't really any other purpose for it so.......................

I'm getting a 3in1 as well but i have a ds phat and my lite is my mums which i use for reviewing purposes (don't want to look poor with my phat!) I've got a crappy gba game which i gutted for the transplanting. Check this space or my sig and i'll have a tutorial up about the same time that i get it in my hands!

Okay! I'm done! I'll get you some picks later i promise. With my method, you don't need any glue or hardware skills and if you get a lite, all you need to do is unwrap the sticky tape and glue the cover back on! that simple!

firstly you need 4 things
1. the expansion pack (der!)
2. An unwanted GBA game
3. triwing screw driver and a small screw driver (i used a stanly knife)
4. really thin sticky tape (i used masking tape.
5. A file

step one
turn the expansion pack around to the back. Notice the small screw? unscrew that and open it up. you'll be presented with a PCB and a little motor on the top. The motor is attached to adhesive which needs to be peeled off. Make sure that you do not detach the wire.

Step two
on the back of the GBA cartridge, theres a triwing screw. unscrew that. If you really hated the game or you got it cheap, dispose of the back of the cartridge and the PCB.

Step Three
Get the front of the GBA case. File down the part that is sticking up, you'll kno what i'm taking about when you try to stick the 2 parts together. Now get the front of the GBA case the the now opened expansion pack and put them both together. the bottom of the expansion pack and the gba case should line up perfectly.

Step Four
grab your tape and apply the tightest and thinnest layer around the bottom. Don't put it in just yet! notice the groves on the sides of the GBA case? well you need to cut the tape so that the tape goes into the grove, allowing the gba cardrigde to slide in.

Step Five
Yeah, its a tight squeeze but don't worry, so's mine. Just cover holes with some tape and your done

FINISHED!

hope that helps!
