I want to get an alternative to my DSTT, and I've been reading the reviews a bit....
What is it that makes it such a brilliant flashcart?
It costs a lot

I do know that the skins I've seen for it are amazing.
Also, if it's possible, can anyone tell me if you have to do anything special to my files on my DSTT before placing them on the CycloDS?

Just add the Cyclo firmware files.

What more do you want?
 
1- Constant Support from Team

2- Great compatibility

3- Flawless Wii connectivity (its one of the few cards that can do so)

4- And many features such as slow motion and RTS

If some of the above don't appeal to you, go for the EDGE, cheaper and still has the same compatibility.
 
A lot of it stems from the great compatibility and constant support that it gets from its developers. You don't have to wait very long for a piracy protected game to work, they constantly fix various other issues (just recently they fixed the PoR slow card issue. They'll go that far back), and more often than not the Wii connectivity is excellent (Pokemon games connect flawlessly to Pokemon Ranch and Battle Revolution), as is download play and Wi-Fi. Phantasy Star Zero has had some issues, but they're working on it (and there's a Wi-Fi connectivity patch for both Scene Releases anyway).
 
Mostly it is the awesome compatibility with games and other stuff they added - and the ongoing support they started years ago.

At moment they still continue to pursue of having the true 100% compatibility with software... though, many of contestants also are about.

Also, the build quality hasn't been bad in any batches - from maybe all carts, cyclo is less defective card.


What I am saying cyclo does have pretty awesome repertuare of stuff to give, but there IS a good bunch of good and affordable options that could match up to it well (acekard being one)

I am just saying this to be fair, I think cyclo still has the best support teams, at moment (since Acekard is pretty much ran by the mighty norman who is NOT acekard team member)

and yes, wifi (and even WIii connection) work with cyclo - aside WII the wifi should work on pretty much all slot 1 solutions, though...

provided you don't trim your roms OR safe trim your roms, WiFi should work with all cards and games

games that have arm7 fixes wont work at all with Wifi.

Actually, the very first batch, the white ones, had many defective carts. I bought one of those

Thankfully, the build quality has been flawless now. I've had this same black CycloDS for nearly two years.

If you have the money, go ahead and buy it. It has a lot of great features, like built-in GBA support (with a slot 2 card), 2 save profiles, RTS, and soft reset while using homebrew apps. Steady flow of updates as well.

Lol - I happen have a white one with chip coming out too!
It is STILL working... though, I bet the promise of "better battery life" does not apply for that model.

One thing for people who may not know.....the CycloDS does NOT work on a DSi. While that is common knowledge for most people here, I just thought I'd mention that for people who did not realize that little fact.

Here you go, this says it all

I've been running some ongoing tests and the Acekard, Supercard + new OS, and The Cyclo. I've been testing new releases on each card. The results are that every time I load a brand new game on the Acekard and Supercard it ends up in failure but the games load flawlessly on the EVO. Time and time again I'm getting the same result. The Acekard performs the worst of the three. Funny since it's been voted best card of the millennium or sum such silly thing. So thats it. In real world tests the EVO is the best flash card on hte market.

Lol you just showed us how lame you are by copying over your lame statement from your lame thread.
Okay now listen the SuperCard DS ONE, Acekard 2i and M3i Zero are the current best flashcarts as they all have good support and play games the same as cyclo and ALL of the three I mentioned get updates faster than the CycloDS.They are also cheaper and the Supercard And M3 have all the features CycloDS does for $20 less

the problem is .. we yet to see akaio1.6 + the latest loader

i remember normmatt used to be the first that provide fixes for most of the game!
then rest of the team will release their fixes right after that..
do i smell something?

CycloDS is a decent card...
good support and being solid!
however, what i don't like is just the price tag...

Plus akAIO 1.6 will add homebrew soft reset and lag fix in games!
