Ok I've got a flash drive. I want to be able to use it with my computer and my wii without having to reformatt it all the time... I need to partition it right? What program should I use for that? K I have Neogamma R7 installed on my Wii so I can boot a game that way right? I'm planning for now to only have 1 game at a time on my flash drive (Its an 8 gig...). So I don't need any stuff like coverflow or anything do I? What else am I missing?

i haven't done this yet but i remember seeing an awesome tutorial on everything you need and the steps involved.... if it doesn't turn up when you search for it I will see if i can find it too post a link... pretty sure its a sticky though

Its too old, I already looked at the stickied one. Tjcool made a post on the last page that said its out dated etc.

U said u have NeoGamma installed on ur Wii, that's impossible... well, u may want to say that u have install a channel of NeoGamma ?

NeoGamma as any other USBLoader is an application that can be run trough ur SD card using Homebrew Channel (do u have install this HBC) ?

If u want to use ur Flashdrive for Game and for utility then, u need to partition one part as FAT32 and the other part as WBFS.... So u can use EASEUS Partition Master to create two partition, one will be format by this same programm, while the other will be format by either WBFS Manager or WBFS Intelligent GUI).

Hope this help.

i just made a guide. tj_cool should update his backup loading basics thread with it.

heres a spoiler
First download EASEUS Partition Master http://www.easeus-software.com/download/epm.zip
Extract the contents of epm.zip and run EMPSetup.exe

Install EASEUS Partition Master and run the program.

Here you will see any Hard Drives connected to your computer.

* This program does not detect removeable storage.

Disk 1 should be your main drive which is mostly likely drive C:
Disk 2 should be your hard drive if no other drives are connected.

What your trying to accomplish with this program is to divide your drive to whatever size partitions you want so you can be left with an unallocated space you can then format to WBFS.

I am going to divide my 465.5gb fat32 portion into and 365.5gb and be left with 100gb of unallocated space.

1] Right click the drive you want to partition and choose Resize/Move.
th2q.jpg

You should now see a Resize/Move Partition window pop up.
th3ew.jpg

The partition size is the whole size of your drive in Megabytes [MB].

Here you must use the arrows to decide how big your WBFS drive will be.

Notice how when you move the arrows around, the Unallocated Space After box changes. This will be the size of you WBFS drive.

You can either use the whole drive as WBFS but if you ever decide to partition it again, you must erase the whole drive and start over, so i recommend leave at least 1gb of a fat32 partition.

You can use this GB to MB tool http://www.convertunits.com/from/GB/to/MB to find out how much MB you should set it your Unallocated Space After to.

So in my case, I will set it my Unallocated Space After to 102400 MB.
th4.jpg

2] Choose the amount of your [/b]Unallocated Space After[/b] space and press OK.
th5.jpg

3]You should now see your drive as a smaller size and a new Unallocated * drive underneath it. When you are satisfied with the size of your soon to be WBFS drive, press apply down on the bottom left.
th6j.jpg

4]Then press yes to apply the changes.
th7.jpg

This should be quick or take a while, depending on your drive and computer and whatnot.
th8.jpg

After it finishes;
5] Go to My Computer and right-click to select manage.
th9a.jpg

6] Click on Disk Management towards the bottom left.

Here you should see your connected disk drives again, with the unallocated space there.
th10.jpg

7] Right Click the unallocated space and choose new partition
th11.jpg

8] Click next and choose primary partition
th12e.jpg

9] Leave the partition size at the maximum.
th13.jpg

10] Choose whatever letter drive you want to assign your WBFS device to. I always choose W when I can but any letter is fine.
th14.jpg

11] Choose Do not Format this Partition then click on finish.
th16d.jpg

After this your drive should be ready to go with any WBFS manager out there that has a built in WBFS formatter. Just choose your letter drive you created in Step 10.
I personally use AlexDP’s WBFS Manage but any manager should get the job done.
