R4 Completely Illegal in Japan
Nintendo Crackin' Down
r4japan.png

The R4 DS is now completely illegal in the country of Japan. The law in Japan now forbids the selling of R4 DS flashcarts.
Apparently, only the R4 is banned in Japan at the moment. I guess other flashcarts such as the Acekard or M3 are legal in Japan if used for homebrew/owned-backups purposes?

Not only was Nintendo responsible, but 53 other software-developing companies have formed a coalition to get these things off the market!
It seems like Nintendo is starting to crack down on the R4 DS flashcarts, as last year they shut down a major R4 distribution factory in China. Who's next?

'Today, the Tokyo District Court has found in Nintendo's favour and granted an injunction against sales of the R4. Most outlets had already stopped selling it due to the lawsuit's pressure, but it's now officially against the law to sell it in Japan.'

It'll be harder for gamers in Japan to get new games due to the high cost usually 50-80 US dollars.

Lol, no point of making it illegal to sell r4s .... no updates = no buyers and no stock= no buyers ? (weird one there but w.e)... even though im sure some stupid ppl will start buying clones ... lol =]

theres no law against buying them in the US are there? trying to get me a slot-2 and some AK2s for my friends

who cares hardly anyone uses the r4 anymore
just hope the other flashcarts dont illegal
they probably did this so the will send a message to people who are going to buy a flashcart
dont get the r4 because its illegal and we also dont want you to waste your money for a product that's never updated
go spend your money on an acekard 2
we wont care

Selling them outside of the internet is a serious offense.

Haha, nintendo is helping us get people to stop buying R4s.

edit: too tired to be up

R4 was the card back then,

But now there is just so much better out right now.

They brought this on themselves by advertising it like hell.

Also, how much do you think they paid that guy in the picture?

so its completely legal to order it online? trying to get AK2s from china and dont want them confiscated from customs as ive read somewhere that their flashcard was taken

r4ds may not be the best but it really opened up the flashcart business to everyone and thus if it were closed down the pop of flashcarts would die out and hopefully for nin, there will be less piracy
but still not done by a long shot

i really doubt r4's shutting down would kill all the other flashcarts.

Who...cares? Who uses R4 nowadays?

...

Okay, I do.

But Acekard is being shipped to me right now

Is this really targeting R4 only? I assume they use "R4" as a generic description for any kind of flash card, much like people refer to any MP3 player as "iPod".
