Caisse DS has had a minor update which includes a correction of 2 levels and a completed check of the 500 included levels. From that update and while getting ready for the Nintendomax/PAlib/PortableDEV compo this new version was born.


Why a new version?

Already to participate in the joint NINTENDOMAX / PAlib / PORTABLEDEV with the orange theme, I had to find an idea and since I was not completely satisfied with my CAISSE DS, I thought why not create a new version keeping what I like and adding new things, and here I was running.

Achieving this version I took a little over 2 months.

The principle is the same as in FUND DS but a lot of things have changed / added in this new version.

Here is a list of changes:
  • New background music.
  • Effects of transitions between screens (horizontal drapes, curtains vertical spiral effects).
  • 15 different backgrounds including 1 hidden (before: 7 including 1 hidden).
  • 14 themes associated changing all the appearance of the game (floor, wall, destination, cash in, cash out, writing, menu, buttons ...) with 14 different characters (character largest 8px in height) and animation system completely reprogrammed. (Front: 1 single character, 6 themes not changing the scenery of the game: ground, wall, destination, cash in, cash out)
  • Now, during the game by clicking on the word SELECT or by pressing its button, we can show / hide the screen listing the keys and their effects to have a complete vision of the game or not
  • You can cancel up to 192 movements (before 100) and on the upper screen in real time a summary of recent movements appear (with a different color if you pushed a box or not).
  • For version with FAT, the choice of theme and the game is saved, which avoids reselect their preferred options.
This is not the result of FUND DS, but a new version with a new engine using the 500 levels of the 1st version.

I think you need to be a bit careful of this update.

When I tried it on my R4 it lost all my results, I've played this game for a while and suddenly I was back at level one. Rats!!

A restore of the save file from backup fixed that and I've gone back to the older version (13 Sept 2008) but make sure you have a backup of your save file before you try this release.

EDIT:
OK, What has happened is this, the location for the save file NEWCDS.SAV has changed from the root of the microSD to a folder called kukulcan which has to be in the root of the microSD, annoying but it can be hidden. If you copy your old save file from the root into this new folder then your old progress and score will be remembered. Yay.
