ROM Hack Chrono Trigger Prophets Guile

Maybe you should ask after the game actually comes out so people can see how similar it is.
Thought it was out in Japan since it was getting a released at the end of the year but was wrong they are being released(supposedly) both near each other.

It doesn't happen with the odd games Japan gets, but does with most of the big releases:
Mario Kart, Metroid Prime Hunters, AW:Days of Ruin (still no J-release date for that one) all come out in the US first. Much to my annoyance, living in Japan.

well, think about all the games you get we don't get.
and how you can actually understand what's written in 98% of the games from other regions.

Would it be possible to port this hack to be usable with Chrono Trigger DS?

Well I do not see it being that way, for the NES games you go to play in Contra 4 they were rom's that they used. For Chrono Trigger i do not think the "single screen" Version will be a rom as its just a different"view" and will still include these extra dungeons that were mentioned from a few sources.

I never thought of it that way, and you're probably right now that I think about it. I assumed that "just as it appeared on the SNES" meant it will be the emulated SNES version without the redone script, the anime cutscenes from the PSX version, or the extra dungeons. But I guess if it were included, they would have just reported that the original SNES version was included and not bother using such words to begin with.

Yup, they just want to give sticklers there view they got when playing the original SNES version, which I for one and many others who loved the game will love the original feel of the SNES instead of the new DS format, tho I will be happy with either as I LOVE CHRONO TRIGGER

Will they bother to write a SNES emulator just for the sake of one game? Given that Contra 4's emulator was based on PocketNES, not written from scratch; there's no comparable SNES emulator for S-E to make use of, so it would mean a lot of work just to run one game. More likely they'll just use the CTDS engine with all the extra features/new translation removed.

The only reason a SNES emulator would be needed is if they then hacked the rom and added the new dungeons and slip streamed cinematic events in there. Sorry to say people but I do not see any emulator being used inside or with this game. (Other then no$GBA of course ;-) ...) Well unless of course they have another game as a mini game which in this very very unlikely event would probably be an atari or NES game. Maybe a Final Fantasy 1 as a built in mini game
