So I'm happy with my CycloDS Evolution. VERY happy, in fact. Nothing better than the joys of gleefully messing around with NitroTracker at work during my break with the headphones on.

But when it comes to the games I'm left with one disappointment that I'm thinking I might not be alone on. I know I can't be the only one who shares his DS with someone. As for me, both my girlfriend and I use it. But there are many games that allow for only one save file (Ace Attorney, for instance) making it impossible to play concurrently.

I'd post my suggestions myself, but it seems that the Team Cyclops forums are forever closed for registration. Also, strangely, their [email protected] e-mail returns a nice Mailer Daemon bounce-back.

If anyone could pass on my suggestion to their suggestion forums I'd really appreciate it.

My suggestion is simply this: allow for the option of using profiles. When you start the Evolution you can just start it normal and it functions as it does normally. OR you can run a "login" type thing where you make/select a username. If you do the latter, then all save-files generated will be tagged *nameofgame*-*username*.sav and all games will look for files of that format. Whereas if you boot normally then, as I said before, it functions normally and looks for the *nameofgame*.sav files.

I'd love to hear what you think, and again, would appreciate if anyone could pass it on.

You could do it manually... Backup or rename the file each time the player changes (ugh). Is there a DS homebrew that can rename files?

I really like not having to deal with multiple save files per game myself.

Why not just have 2 copies of the rom on the mem card under different names, that would produce different save files

Both suggestions would work, but have severe drawbacks.

Changing the name manually requires a PC, since I know of no homebrew that can do it off the top of my head.

Having more than one copy of the game would work, but space is an issue.

Seeing as how the code to make my suggestion would only take a few kb and the savs only take a few hundred kb, it's much more efficient to have the profiles.

I think people have already suggested multiple save files on the TC forum.

And, yes, there a homebrew that let you rename files. It's called DS Organize. It would be a bother to have to load up DSO every time you play the game though, so I think as a quick fix having 2 copies of the rom in different folders would work best. Space shouldn't really be an issue unless you have a ridiculous amount of roms on your card.

Another quick fix I can think of is, you know the option that let you use an alternate save location? When you play it, change the option to the default save location and when your girlfriend play it use the alternate save location. This should make it generate 2 save files in different locations and you will only need one copy of the rom.

@Chrono

THAT, sir, is genius. I'll look into how to do it. Thanks for the idea!

The new 1.5 firmware has two save locations (Normal and Alternative) which would suit your situation.

Yeah, just what I was going to suggest. You really can't have more than 2 save files, but this works out perfectly when you change save file locations. Go to options, there should be an option regarding save locations, and you can switch that on and off whenever you guys need to switch.
