Hey guys. I'm trying to patch my Mario Kart ROM to allow the hidden tracks (such as Tick Tock Clock) to be played in wifi mode. Unfortunately, the game whitescreens on both hardware and emulators after patching. I'm using a clean ROM with a CRC matching the Advanscene list, patching with Lunar IPS. Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going wrong?

EDIT: If it helps any, NDSHeader lists it as having a busted header.

EDIT2: OK, I found a selective IPS patcher which allowed me to disable whatever the hell the IPS was doing patching the header; with that gone all I had to do was turn off cheats and soft reset and it ran fine. If anybody Googling or something finds this, the tool I used is called IPSelect, and it's available on ROMHacking.net. I just raced on Waluigi Pinball and Tick-Tock Clock no troubles.

Interesting, I always wanted to race in other tracks in wifi mode. When you get a fully working patch give us the link to try it

No attachments here, huh. I'll stick it on SendSpace.

Mario Kart DS hidden wifi track patch (tested on US version only).

This is essentially the same as the other patch going around, minus the header editing which I still don't understand the purpose of. It did nothing but break the game for me. It will replace the first 12 tracks in the wifi menu with the 12 hidden tracks, namely Waluigi Pinball, Shroom Ridge, Tick-Tock Clock, Airship Fortress, Peach Gardens, Bowser Castle, SNES Donut Plains 1, GBA Bowser Castle 2, SNES Koopa Beach 2, GBA Luigi Circuit, GCN Mushroom Bridge and N64 Banshee Boardwalk.

There is no way to make the game list all 32 tracks at once. There is room for 20 tracks only. This means you won't be able to choose any of the original first 12 tracks from the menu. However, all you're changing is the menu itself, so if one of those tracks gets randomly selected, nothing will go wrong, you'll just race it like usual. Single player and local multiplayer are not affected by this patch in any way. Any glitches you encounter on these tracks are not my fault; they were locked out of wifi mode for a reason. Any busted Mario Kart ROMs or saves or flash cards or DSes or refridgerators or anything are not my fault.

Personally, I think a couple of these locked races are a drag anyway, and in fact quite like a few of the first 12 tracks. If you know anything about hex editing, you can set up your menu with your 20 favourite tracks; this page includes a guide on how to do so (the patch linked on this page is the one that simply broke my MKDS ROM; you can try it if you want or if mine doesn't work for you, but given the fact that it busts the header, I suspect it of being badly made).

If anyone cares, my personal track list runs as follows: Cheep Cheep Beach, Luigi's Mansion, Desert Hills, Delfino Square, Waluigi Pinball, Shroom Ridge, DK Pass, Tick-Tock Clock, Mario Circuit, Airship Fortress, Peach Gardens, Bowser Castle, Rainbow Road, SNES Mario Circuit 1, N64 Moo Moo Farm, SNES Donut Plains, N64 Frappe Snowland, GCN Mushroom Bridge, N64 Banshee Boardwalk, GCN Yoshi Circuit. If you happen to think this is an excellent tracklist or are awful at hex editing and just want something half decent, here is a patch containing my personal tracklist. Take note that it does not include all locked stages, I left out GBA Bowser Castle 2, SNES Koopa Beach 2 and GBA Luigi Circuit because they are all boring.

If you don't know hex editing: no, I don't want to make a custom patch for you unless you are my girlfriend in which case I love you baby. Everybody have fun.

EDIT: And if you try it and it doesn't work, remember to try it with cheats/soft reset/etc. disabled; the way the patch works is to replace an empty chunk of the ROM with the custom menu. Your flash card may assume that this area is still empty, and use it for its own patching crap. Two patches in the same location = fail.

It's great to know there's still people who hack MKDS the clean way. ARDS screwed Wi-Fi up. I blame Porkchop..

But yeah, I'd say make sure you got a legit IPS patch and make sure the patcher is also doing it's job. If you haven't already, check m3Wiki out.

screw the patch... I can give you working AR codes.

oh.. and btw... the ONLY track I have problems with is Airship fortress... SOMETIMES tic-toc.

here is the problem- it is hard to throw items, they can disappear, other then that, they ALL race amazingly well

well I have yet to confirm this, but i think Nintendo secret worked on these ones over the years. IF you have the right keys to access the tracks, they will play extremely smoothly.
