Sounds like full unlock not working.
Perhaps wrong location or wrong version.
I'm using version 3.4.0.0 from the website and my app version is 3.4.0 they're definitely the correct version.

Edit: I just noticed that one of the games I injected is working, but none of the others are.

Perhaps strange hacks or translation.
Solong you tell no details, of course no one can and will help.

The games I'm trying to load are 240p test suite, Mother 2 perfect Edition (Romhack of Earthbound, SMW Call of Cthulu, and Earthbound Halloween. Out of all of those only Earthbound Halloween works.

I placed the ips patch at sd:/atmosphere/exefs_patches/01008D300C50C000/46CFFEEFE486D553C304CD13EB181B18A4C57A4D.ips

What I've thought, all hacks. NSO doesn't "like" that.
Small chance that it works, some do, most don't.

Often, after updating something on my switch, my NES/SNES online just freezes at start up or freezes when I try to load a game.
I have custom games in both.

Does the atmos firmware, system firmware, and database version need to be in a perfect alignment for this to work? If so, what needs to be adjusted to make my current build work?

Currently on Switch fw 14.1.1 atmos 1.3.2, with latest databases

I know the apps can stay loading on the red logo screen for a while sometimes. This can be due to a few things. Large custom database, a system-save.json thats bloated (happens when you have to many games that you have booted at least once I guess), and excessive resolution images.

If it fails to load at all, the most common issue is that you have a bad image for a game somehow. This mostly happened when CaVE has been bugged, but assuming it isn't now... the most likely culprit is that a image got corrupted while copying over.

As many will attest too, DONT USE TINFOIL'S MTP SERVER! It's crap. Use DBI if you are copying over via USB (Or even the TegraRcmGUI's, as that is quite fast and seemingly stable). If using a SD Card reader, well... its hit or miss if files copy correctly.

It's weird because the NES Online app works fine with custom games, Some run poorlu but it hasn't outright rejected any Roms like it's doing here on the SNES app.

Put simply, its different EMU code. You cant expect one to work as good or bad as another.

Put more complexly... canoe's (the SNES emu) code is not designed as a general catch all emulator, to support whatever game you throw at it. It's design only to play a VERY SPECIFIC list of games. That list? The GameCode/PresetID list. And when I say specific, I mean SPECIFIC! Each game is meant to be enabled by use of a GameCode for a specific region and 1.X version of the game. Further, Nintendo often created VC specific game hack patchs (hence my patch pack) for some games.

While fan hacks and translations may work, they are the exception! By their nature, they change a game away from being the specific version of the game the emulator intends.

That said, you may be able to get games and patched ROMs to work by trying different GameCodes. Thats why I link Robins compatibility list.

Anyone help with this? i have same issue as previous poster
Just discoverd Cave a few days ago
Built my database of games, copied across to switch, copied the IPS patch to where the guide tells me:

Copy the "SNES Online - Full Unlock" folder with the "########################################.ips" in it to that folder. You should have.
  • SD:/atmosphere
    /exefs_patches/
    SNES Online - Full Unlock/########################################.ips
^ this is what I have done
Copied the database across, all games show up in the SNES online, but none of them launch, they just blink and do nothingStock games are all working

Checked my snes online version and it is 3.4.0
Checked that I downloaded correct unlocker for snes 3.4.0

Ran some of the titles through the sfrom tool again just to make sure they were done properly

Copied across again after redoing the database

Same result.... games are there but will not launch

Does Atmosphere patch the ips automatically, do I have to do anything special when launching snes online from the switch?

Suggestion was that unlock wasnt working ... I've checked that I've got the correct files and in correct place.... any more help appreciated.

Also not using any hacks or translations roms. Just simple rom "7th saga" as a test.

7th Saga works without problems. ips location looks ok.
Perhaps you have generated the wrong sfrom file with sfrom tool ?

Thanks for trying to help.

Ok so I went back and created a new database from scratch, just in case I had missed anything. This time just a few titles, imported straight from no-intro set. 7th saga being one of them. Again, no hacks/translations, no custom chips.

Made sure that before placing in to Cave, I ran them through sfrom tool. Saved them as Switch sfrom.

Imported in to Cave > Saved database.

Copied database to Switch SD card (SD card placed in pc and files copied across). SD card placed back in Switch.

Start up switch, start up the SNES Online > new games appear for opening.

Try all of the imported games, and nothing, game just blinks and doesn't launch. Stock games are fine.

"Just blinks and doesn't launch" is for 99% not working full unlock. Try to redownload.
Using a MAC could make problems aswell.
Otherwise a hacked rom that just doesn't start instead of crashing.

No Mac. Windows 10 pc.

Unlock file is definitely the 3.4.0 version.

I've placed it in

sdmc:/atmosphere/exefs_patches/SNES Online - Full Unlock/xxxxxxx.ips

at the same level are

sdmc:/atmosphere/exefs_patches/es_patches/
and
sdmc:/atmosphere/exefs_patches/nfim_ctest/

Does the naming matter, having spaces? "SNES Online - Full Unlock"?

Do I need to do anything to make the ips apply?

Place is correct - just used the given folders + file (names).
Looks bad for you I've no idea.

As SNESFan has covered the most common reasons such a thing happens... the only other idea I have to suggest and ask is... Have you restarted your Switch since you installed the Unlock and app?

There are occasional random issues sometimes with the app/patch and the first install. Thus its easy to forget about for some of us.

In CaVE, right-click on the game and select "Open Game Title Folder".
See if in the game directory there's a file with extension .SFROMSIG.

Ok so I had rebooted the Switch but I did it again, full power off and on and rcm again.

Then I completely deleted the SNES online package.

Reinstalled it. Applied latest 3.4.0 update.

Reboot Switch again, go in to SNES online... still the same, games just blink and don't load.

I did check what marcioap1 suggested and all the .SFROMSIG files are there.

Removed and retransferred the Cave database folder to my Switch again. Still the same.

Also notice that the details of each of the imported roms also shows "meta_title_comment_s_5988_e" instead of the description.

Must be something weird with my Switch?

Frustrating!
