Firmware updates normally don't remove any information. I also would not recommend following a video guide. Instead, follow the guide provided by the tool emmchacgen
Trying to update firmware via Daybreak. I constantly get a "Failed to prepare update. Result: 0x00004c02" error. Any tips or tricks on how to fix this problem?
Restoring my eMMC RAW GPP right now as the other forum stated. Is rebuilding nand restoring eMMC though or am I just getting those two different actions mixed up?
I am already past emmchacgen no?

The switch backup I am currently trying get working is in a bootloop. A Nintendo logo then black screen one. No other options seem to work so I am trying to use the last steps in this video to retain as much info while also upgrading the firmware. I think the firmware is the problem but I have no idea.“In this video I detail how to rebuild an unpatched switch NAND that has no previous backup on version 11.0.1.”
What happened to your backup? This is a last ditch, everything is fucked up, video.

No, the point of emmchacgen is to rebuild damaged eMMC files and by the looks of it, it doesn't seem like you tried using it.I am already past emmchacgen no?

I did use it. It was in the video. I am just unsure of what files I can keep and which should be deleted. No, the point of emmchacgen is to rebuild damaged eMMC files and by the looks of it, it doesn't seem like you tried using it.

Oh, no, I am able to mount the nand. I have been able to do this from the beginning. I just am too scared to fuck something up when replacing not needed files. There are tools to backup the game saves and photos but it sounds like you’re already past the point of being able to mount the nand.
I’m going to be super happy if you end up with a recovered and working Switch.

I made sure to make backups of everything, the pckgs, boot0-12, rawnand.bin, etc. Are there any guides on how to replace or just to give me a rough idea of how to recover it?That’s great! Fear is our friend. It makes us go slow and be cautious. I would make backups of everything before each step…just to be sure. Back up that nand for sure!

I did this as well before I did a restore from the latest version of hekate. Now the switch is back on the bootloop. Since the backup I contain has a bootloop. Are there any other guides that include how to restore via mounting? (To get rid of the bootloop)I’ve not had to do a full nand recovery (yet) but these are the steps:

Currently in the sd card using usb mass storage. I am unable to find "/atmosphere/contents.bak" I see "/atmosphere/contents" but not "/atmosphere/contents.bak".Are you sure it’s not getting honked up on a system module? Move /atmosphere/contents to /atmosphere/contents.bak and reboot to see.
Right….i’m saying to rename contents to contents.bak. This will make Atmosphere skip loading these added system modules. System modules frequently make it through the Nintendo logo but stop right afterwards with a black screen…sound familiar? Its and easy solution to try before you move forward with surgery.Currently in the sd card using usb mass storage. Oh ok, sorry, my fault. I will try renaming this file.Right….i’m saying to rename contents to contents.bak. This will make Atmosphere skip loading these added system modules. I have tried this and am still receiving the Nintendo logo then black screen. Should I go on to replacing files via mounting the nand now?Oh ok, sorry, my fault. I will try renaming this file.

Ok, well thanks man. Going to see what I can do tomorrow. Hopefully, I can find the firmware and replace it to see if that is the problem. I'll keep updated. It was worth a shot.
I’m not recommending any specific actions beyond this point as I’ve not done them myself.

Before I fully get off tbatemp for today. What is the easiest way to get banned on ofw? Or just my switched banned for ofw to cfw use? Successfully updated my switch and made an account. Actually, I am very contempt for what I have just done. I have successfully updated to firmware version 14 online, kept all pictures in the album from all the way to 2018, as well as the play activity. Sadly the Users are gone, but maybe I will be able to add them back at a later date. Thanks for the help guys! Need the easiest way to get banned still.Ok, well thanks man.
