Asking for help, I've encountered some errors.
I'm using Patch64+ Tool to patch some Zelda roms to use in Not64, and all the ones I've made works there. Even the Master Quest patch.

But as soon as I patch a Zelda Ocarina VC wad file, I get an empty channel in the Wii Home with a (?) Icon only visible through the Wii's settings.

Note: That Super Mario 64 WiiVC wad it's patched too, so I'm assuming it's not the tool's fault... but I'm lost as why this is happening.

Sidenote: Also patching Smash Bros.64 to use 16:9 widescreen works but launches to black screen.
Does anyone here knows what's causing this problem?

EDIT: I just found why the "?" Channel Icons.
It's caused by custom Channel Titles.
You can use whatever 4 letter ID you want, and as long as you don't add a Custom Title, the channel will work normally.

Yes, I can guarantee that they work because I have the same wad files (unpatched) installed in my SD.

It's just that I'd love to play a patched Ocarina of Time VC wad.

Do you think something like CustomizeMii could solve the problem?

Any way that I can narrow down what's causing this to happen?

I've already tried changing the title ID using the tool.

As what version of the tool I'm using, I'm using the latest one.

I saw that 9 days ago Admentus64 launched a new version ;) https://github.com/Admentus64/Patcher64Plus-Tool/releases

What Windows are you using?

I saw that you need to force PowerShell to can be used for launch any script (launch the PS Execution Policy Changer.bat file included with latest Patcher64+ and change that setting to Allow any scipt to be launched on PowerShell).

EDIT: Also disable temporally your antivirus, and try launching Patcher64+ as administrator.

Yep, using the latest one.
In your experience... have you found an empty channel with (?) as it's icon?

Yep, but not when trying to do the same thing on my Patcher64+.

I patched my SSB64 WAD with the 16:9 widescreen patch and played in Dolphin with no issues.

What patch of Zelda OoT are you trying to apply to your WAD?

It's weird. Now I got it to launch, but it crashes when selecting a character.

About the Zelda OoT patch, I'm trying to patch a Custom made Redux patch. Nothing special, no custom models or anything like that, just adding the 2X Text Speed and allowing Child items to be used by Adult and Adult Items t be used by Child among other things.

Might be the Wad Installer?
Using WadManager to it's latest version.

Maybe it's your WAD Manager.
Try using WiiModLite or YAWMM (Yet Another WAD Manager Mod).

@SaulFabre
Nop! It's not the Wad Installer. Still crashes with other Wad Managers other than "WadManager" :rofl2:
@JuanMena

So i think Patcher64+ actually "accidentally" corrupts the patched WADs when trying to applying the patches.
This is definitively a bug with Patcher64+.

In my tests, when these actually run in Dolphin, in the first try i've always got (in the patched WADs of course) the error of "WAD installation failed: cannot create Wii Shop log files".

Ok... yes, it makes sense as why Mario Kart and Super Mario 64 works, but not with other wads.
Interesting, yes, thanks.
Will message Admentus on Discord about this.

@SaulFabre Thanks for your time!

I didn't read it thoroughly, but the read me has a whole section on Zelda 64, did u go through that with a fine tooth comb?
Nop :huh:

Are you the kind of guy that reads instructions?

No but seriously, didn't read it. Assumed "it works in Not64, it should in Virtual Console"

EDIT: And I will read it right now.

Again I didn't read it in detail so I'm not sure of this has any solutions to your issue. Good luck!

In order to avoid making another thread...
How do I safely edit a Virtual Console Channel Banner?
I've succesfully patched a Zelda Ocarina of Time.wad into a Master Quest patch and a Redux Patch.

Both of them shares the same Banner in the Home Menu and the Save Data screen, but not the same save file.

Anyway, most info I can find says different things like, use CustomizeMii and others says different things.

Anyway... anyone has a more reliable tutorial in how to achieve that?
