is your v1 switch still alive and kicking after consistently overclocked? without any form of repair or thermal replacement?

Had to open up to clean off the dust, other than that nothing much. I only overclock while running android rom though.

It is a heavily used ver1 switch that is still alive and kicking:nayps3:

You can overclock this thing? I haven't done any of that; just had it run on stock homebrew ever since I got mine, a year after launch.
Overclocking is a game changer, improves fps stability for many games, lets you reach 60fps in games where its possible (either officially or thanks to patches), opens many possibilities for great emulation experience and a lot more... Its still boggling to me that switch's cpu and gpu are underclocked this much by default, they could've at least set cpu to 1500 MHz by default, it wouldn't have even affected battery life that much. Can't imagine using a modded switch without overclocking. That being said, its been 4 years for me and my switch is sitting at 90-92% battery capacity, never experienced overheating/high temps but i don't really push it that much like some people do (going above 1.9Ghz for cpu and 900mhz gpu).

Yeah I havent come across any issues or noticeable degradation in my battery capacity or temps. The only issue is that i can't overclock my gpu past 460mhz without a powerbank or charger :(

My v1 working perfectly. Only overclock for games i want to push to 60fps, or those that have unofficial graphics options mods to improve experience (GTA definitive edition for example).

How do people go about overcloking for Switchroot Android? I have found that much more stable than HOS for certain system emulation, and i would be keen to cut out some of the stutter i have seen for more recent consoles. I have Timesplitters 2 (for Gamecube) running near flawlessly, but because its a game i love, i want it to be perfect!

Imho...it is a nice gimmick. But in long term...useless af. I don't see any visual differences between stock and oc. Except that the switch getting hotter than normal.
That´s not true. Many graphic mods have higher resolution when you use higher frequencies...

this is just so untrue and not even the full point of overclocking. it will indeed improve the appearance of games with dynamic resolutions such as Witcher 3 while some games only get better textures when you turn on docked mode (such as Ancestors Legacy) but the main point of overclock is improved performance so I have no idea how you can call it a "gimmick"

No noticeable changes, and even if there was, since I like to use lakka and it helps to run even normal switch games better, I wouldn't mind even if had to change thermal paste once every few years or getting a new battery which would result in a total of maybe 40€.
