I could be wrong, but I don't think it was ever released for PC-98, unlike the title I mentioned earlier.

This is a sad news ...but I suspected it, since the english version was for win 95, and not for ms-dos.

Sorry for yet another bother, but strangely enough I had forgotten about Alicesoft's titles. How about Rance 3/4/4.1/4.2 (I won't mention the first two because they are too primitive and crude) available in english in the windows version (without forgetting Toushintoshi 1/2); all VN/RPG games that have their correspondents on PC-98...Just hints, of course.

P.S. If you'll manage to port the english translations of the acclaimed Rance games on Neko Project 2, so playable on portable consoles, you would do a commendable work, worthy of the Nobel Prize...

Edit (not to bump my thread): And let's not forget the 2 dungeon crawling/RPG (remakes) Lightning Warrior Raidy: the graphics of the english releases are completely different but I believe the plot and the unfolding of events are identical.

Same problem for the Alice Soft releases: vastly different file structures due to the change of engine. I can extract ressources from the Windows version, but can't unpack the data files for the PC-98 ones, let alone repack modified data files.
The only game that has kind of the same structure is "Little Vampire", but inserting the english script file into the pc-98 versions renders the game unbootable.
So we're out of luck until someone cracks open the early alice soft PC-98 engine.

I'm going out of scope of OP here, but since the problem is solved I'll take a time to tell that this game have awesome graphics considering the NEC PC-98.
I was MSDOS and windows 95 user back on the day, games looking this good back then were not common at all.

I don't care about Visual Novels as general rule, but those screenshots grabbed my attention ob the minute I realized how old this game is.

@BabaJeanmel I have a problem applying the RC2 patch. I extended the rom (CRC checks out) and then I apply the RC1 patch (both with xdelta).
When I put this patched .hdi into to Update folder and run patchy.exe, I get an error at the first file. Some sort of site mismatch.
What am I doing wrong? I followed the Readme to the letter...

Sorry, forget it. The xdelta IS already the RC2 patch...

I'm doing Foxy (early strategy game by elf with some light h-content). Menus are complete. The script is giving me a hard time, as it's the first time I attempt to make a 100% translation from japanese all by myself. But it's slowly coming along. I'd say it's something like 10% complete atm.

Hello, I'm the Yu-No PC-98 patch author.

The hdi builds that were shared on discord and hosted on mega were for testing purposes only (some updates literaly broke the game engine). After the patch completion, the link was removed because there was no purpose in keeping it. I was never threatened by anyone, don't worry about me

However, yes, it's now complete. The archive link ecto posted just above is the official one.

It's labeled as RC2 because the epilogue hasn't been fully proofred yet and may have the occasional typo here and there. I'll release an incremental update with all remaining typos corrected after my proofreader completes the game. I'll let you know there when it's done (or otherwise I regulary post updates about y pc-98 related projects on Twitter). You can however begin a game, the update will be incremental and won't touch your saves.

I'm sorry for the circonvulted patching method, but the game structure itself was preventing me to use a more streamlined way. If you have any trouble applying it, just let me know and I'll help the best I can.

Thanks for the link, nikokaro. I heard this game is pretty good and i really want to give it a try. it was great that you are interested in this game too

however i only play emulators on an android box in my living room tv, because i already work all day on the computer, so ill have to find a way to install neko 2 on android and make the mouse movement work under a bluetooth controler> ill come back with what i find

To be fair im interested in any PC98 games translated to english i can play on my android box. After years emulating snes, genesis, playstations and such is really fun to finally emulate a system that is completely new to us in the west

Neko Project 2 is also available on Android: I used to use it on my tablet; now I prefer to use my PSP.
Be careful playing these games on TV because they are "peculiar": they contain (actually few) so-called hentai (perverted) scenes that might scandalize some wives and shock some underages.
