I‘m trying to play PKG files with their connected RAP files on a PS3 Super Slim with HFW and HEN. Yet every time I try to load one, it states it needs to be connected to PSN to authorise. I tried activating the console, with an alternate account, and I tried putting the RAP files on a USB drive, yet to no avail.

Is there some way of disabling the requirement with a patch to the PKG? I know that Scott Pilgrim vs the World does not require any other files to work on a PS3. So is that a possibility?

On you put the RAP files on an usb drive, you need to activate them using a tool like PSN Patch

it's impossible to negate the rap requirement from scratch, since they're different for each content (though the klicense can be the same). scott pilgrim is probably a c00 game, which is a demo that can be unlocked to full. these use a generic edat license that only requires the content id. game fixes actually require the rap in order to decrypt the content, then they're resigned as free, removing that restriction. you could try doing that, but all game updates must be fixed as well. there's a klicense database with ps3 tools as well as psn liberator in case you need the klicense. though, if it's not in there, you'll have to bruteforce it, which if dummy, will not tell you. it's much easier using the system to do this, but the game must be bootable, which means the license must work, which kinda defeats the purpose.

you don't even need to do that. all you have to do is run the game with the rap file in the exdata folder on dev_hdd0 or dev_usb000 (the one closest to the bd drive).

I tried that, and used PSNPatch to try and install the rap files. Yet it is to no avail. I’ve noticed that the IDPS and PSID are both entirely zeros. Could this be a problem?

yes, definitely. the idps is used along with the act.dat with encrypting/decrypting rap/rif. if it's all 0s, you probably can't even sign in or can you?

I'm mainly aiming to try and use it without online capabilities, so that I don't end up with a ban for my console or my secondary account. Is it possible to log into said account, before activating HEN, and then activate the console, and then log out and activate HEN, and then I'd end up with the proper capabilities, or is that more problematic than it sounds?

IIRC, to dump the act.dat & Idps files you should sign in at least once, if you're on HEN do not activate it beforehand and sign out after that. I would suggest using a dummy account unless you care about trophies and stuff.

Should be able to, see if you can sign in.

So basically, even though the HEN splash screen appears on the startup, I can use the dummy account to register my console, as long as I don't activate HEN in the main menu?

Are you absolutely sure? It‘s just that I don’t want my console banned, or my IP address banned for using homebrew and backups.

I tried using the functions of activating my PS3 console before enabling HEN, and still comes up with the screen that tells you you have to access the PSN store to enable it to play. I am at loggerhead. Why is it that something so simple as getting a PKG file to operate with its rap file, has turned out to be a problem? It still doesn’t seem so easy as the tutorials online make it out to be.
