There are so many different flashcarts out there. If I’m not mistaken, the best and most modern ones are the R4i, Acekart 2i and DSTWO+. Then you have the original R4. Is the original the best? Can it play the Pokémon HG/SS and B2/W2 games as they are newer and made with flashkarts in mind? Should I try all of them? Is there a premium one available, like the GB and GBA has the EverDrive? Or are they all so cheap because of the availability? The build quality of the EverDrive is of high quality. Is there a DS equivalent?

The original R4 kind of sucks by today's standards. You're stuck to a non-SDHC card which is only 2GB or less, and the compatibility is more or less identical to most clones nowadays.

Good luck trying not to pay an arm and a leg for a DSTWO+, assuming you even find it because it's impossible to.

There was a recent surge of Acekard 2i clones on AliExpress but unless you actually have a need for ntrboot then I wouldn't bother.

The DS equivalent of a high build quality... perhaps the R4i Gold 3DS Plus wins that award. Or, it did until its last batch was all defective and the team disappeared into the depths of COVID-19

As I mentioned in your previous thread, nowadays the funny eBay cart with no sticker and a red PCB are as good as it gets. It works on pretty much all games you can think of. And if you can't find them, any r4isdhc.com.cn or r4isdhc.hk 2021 models are the same hardware same kernel.

OK, thanks. Those R4i SDHC are the ones that won't work after a year? And if I install YSMenu on them that problem disappears?

The r4isdhc.com and r4i-sdhc.com ones are the ones that are timebombed, none of which are the carts that I mentioned in my post (r4isdhc.com.cn and r4isdhc.hk)

YSMenu doesn't work on the ones I mentioned. Though you do get something better than YSMenu so who cares.

Alright. Have you bought yours from eBay or their site?

What if I don’t need the flashkart to work on the 3DS, only on the DS and DSi? I would also like the card to be black.
As mentioned earlier, any of the stickerless/red PCB flashcart works. (Also it's black.) It is the same cart as the other few that I mentioned thus far.

I can't find the stickerless anywhere. Look at this video:

He has the white dual-core card. I like the look of it more than the gold. He also has a menu or kernel that has a cool Zelda theme. Looks much better than the other kernels I've seen. How do I get it like he has?

This is literally the cart I told you to get lol

Yeah, I can't seem to find the stickerless ones anywhere either. AliExpress still has them, though.

I'm thinking of getting this white dual-core, the DSTT or the Acekard 2i. Or maybe I should try all of them.

Just stick to one. It isn't worth getting multiple. It also isn't worth it at all if you have a DSi or 3DS where you don't even need one to play games.

Using twilightmenu in dsi/3ds you dont need a flashcard to play ds games but compatibility is still not complete as with ds flashcards.
Does compatibility mean that games won't run as smooth with Twilightmenu?

Games are running natively on the DSi hardware, so they will run fine. But it is a compatibility layer and a wrapper for the SLOT1, so some games could have problems.
So flash carts are better or TWiLight Menu++?

TWLM has more options. Among many other, you can run DS games on TWL mode, so higher clocks and more VRAM.

Flashcards should have almost full compatibility. But TWLM should run most games fine and RocketRobz is working actively on it, unlike the flashcard firmware developers.

Alright! So the best is to both have TWLM on the DSi and an Acekard 2i for DS Lite and DSi?

I'd go with TWLM by default, and flashcard if a particular game has problems. You can also run TWLM on a regular DS using the flashcard (B4DS). But I'm not sure if that flashcard is compatible.
