Im confused as to why it would be any harder to boot into rcm
I'm talking from a literal aspect because your question was if a Switch that never booted, would it be able to boot into RCM. And if you are unsuccessful in booting it into RCM, it will normally boot hence the original situation would no longer apply unless you don't count setting up the console as never booted up.

i suppose it would be prudent to update to 6.2 before the backup anyway since its supported. This would avoid downgrading too far, which is supposedly a bad thing?

Not necessarily. Unless you plan on playing online, there's not that much reason to go to 6.2 especially since an entire CFW is not supported on that firmware. And yes, updating officially to 6.2 will burn fuses rendering you unable to downgrade and hypothetically take advantage of any future exploits released on lower firmwares. Which is why if you want to update, you should do so without burning fuses with the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX.

Guys I need help pls. I boot into RCM with success, but after trying to launch with CFW, progress stop at "generated keys" and Nothing happens after that (The switch doesn't boot normally).

I'm on firmware 4.1.0 with an European console, so I Don't really know if it work.
Thanks for help.

What CFW are you using and where did you download it from?

Also dont use paperclip, its too messy rather than tinfoil piece.

Edit: This post addition to last post.

yes, that, you dont need anything else, there is a video, just put a tiny piece on your joycon in the correct pins. It works perfectly. Not need for stupid jigs and crap like that.

Better picture on what pins you need in case someone is confused on the process... using tin foil !

This actually looks like the easiest method..

Yeah the paperclip was a terrible idea it will only do more damage overtime. The thread was created during the infant year of switch hacking. Anyone new should just buy a reliable jig. Im still using the same Jig that sxos pro came with for 3 years, funny how it outlives the cfw in terms of consistent use.

If you're just a little bit skilled with a soldering iron, you also have the option of modding your joycon. But honestly, the best option is still autoRCM for ease of use.

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling

even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling

LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways

you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market

i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus

Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and using LLMs to generate NPC dialogue and even dynamically generated quests is something i'm sure is already happening
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
will just take some time for games made using those things to be completed and released
